Simmer pots are a great way to increase indoor humidity while infusing the home with comforting aromas! Some people do this on the stove, but I find the crock pot method to be easier to manage (set it & forget it), and potentially much safer. ❄️🌿🤗

Just add herbs & spices (and maybe some citrus - peels and/or sliced fruits) to a crock pot, cover with water, and turn on high 🍊🍋. Let it simmer without the lid. We have a smaller crockpot that we use, and typically refill it a couple times a day. I like to boil water in the kettle for refills, which gives an extra boost to the simmer pot (more steam & aroma while the water cools to the crockpot temp).

Pictured is one pot with orange slices, fresh ginger, cinnamon sticks (broken), cloves, and green sage from the kitchen. You can also add dried herbs, and I like to use older tea blends to use them up (last picture)! You can get creative with these - as long as it smells good to you and isn’t nauseating to anybody in the house (don’t forget about pets).

Do you make simmer pots? Leave a comment with some of your favorite recipes. 💕

We’ll meet online twice over a 2-3 week period, for a total of around 3 hours.

If you’d like to learn more, join the interest list (link in comments) or send me a message. 💬

I’ll be back for another herbalism workshop at Amystical Journey Shoppe on February 20th at 6pm!

This time, we’ll be talking a bit about respiratory health and doing an herbal steam inhalation during class - so bring a towel and large bowl with you for the inhalation activity! All herbs will be provided, which includes the steam, a take-home sample, and of course a tea to enjoy during class. 🌿🌱😊

Pre-registration is highly encouraged (we sold out last time) - see the link in comments!

A blend I’ve really been enjoying lately is a cold infusion of marshmallow root, linden, and cinnamon. It does a great job moistening the body’s tissues, and is wonderfully comforting and soothing to the nervous system. The cinnamon warms it up just a bit for these cold months. 🤗

To prepare a quart, add 7-8 grams of each - marshmallow root (Althaea officinalis), linden (Tilia spp), and cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) to the jar and cover with room temperature water. Steep for at least 4 hours or overnight, then strain and enjoy! (Pictured is a half gallon - double the recipe)

And when it’s snowing outside and I need something warm, I use a recipe from the amazing Jim Mcdonald for marshmallow hot chocolate. Just warm your infusion gently on the stove with a bit of cocoa or cacao powder and sweetener of your choice (I use jaggery or maple syrup). The cinnamon really shines when combined with the chocolate (pictured with some Dandies pumpkin spice vegan marshmallows) 😋!

I’ve enrolled in Camille Freeman’s 2026 Supplement Deep Dive Series. Geared towards practitioners (herbalists & nutritionists), it’s a year-long explanation of key supplements and how to think about & work with them in a clinical practice setting. I look forward to learning more about dietary supplementation, the many forms available for various nutrients, and how/when to recommend them to clients!
If you’re a practitioner and interested in enrolling in the series, check it out! Camille is a wealth of knowledge and such a wonderful practitioner, teacher and mentor 😊.

Starting in February, I’ll be hosting monthly clinical office hours sessions. Monthly attendance is free for all clinical clients, and Lunar Sol community members may attend one session of their choosing. These virtual sessions will be offered on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm (Eastern). 🗓

Office Hours are not mini consultations, but rather Q&A sessions for topics that don’t require an in-depth review of health histories or conditions. People may ask about herbal remedies, dosage & formats, formulation, herb selection, basic holistic support, and anything else related to herbalism! 🌱🍄🌿

If you’ve attended a class or workshop with me in the past, and would like to join the community, follow the link in the photo or message/email me to get started! 🌹🫶

Check out my guest blog post for Northern Appalachia School about winter energetics and herbal support! And if you’d like to learn more, I’ll be at the Richmond Library - Free Library of Philadelphia on Tuesday night (5:30 pm) to host a workshop on this topic 🌱❄🌿.

Winter is a time of darkness and rest, when nature slows down and turns inward in preparation for a new growth period.
