This is one of SHM’s largest SIGs with over 500 members. The collaboration within this group provides priceless value to hospitalists who co-manage patients or are involved in perioperative discussions.

A favorite across the group is their monthly journal club, structured as webinars where an author of a timely study discusses the findings with the SIG. 📝

SHM’s Perioperative/Co-Management SIG supports hospitalists managing surgical patients through mentorship, journal clubs, and cross-specialty collaboration. The SIG fosters academic growth and practical problem-solving in a rapidly expanding field.

The session emphasized different strategies to initiate buprenorphine, naltrexone, acamprosate, gabapentin, and phenobarbital therapy in patients with SUDs.
