Today is Zero HIV Stigma Day, taking action against HIV stigma. Despite biomedical advancements in HIV prevention and care, HIV stigma persists in many of our communities.

This reinforces thoughts that those living with HIV should be shunned, and those who should get tested to know their status don't get the testing and treatment they need.

Mazzoni Center is here to unite people and communities against HIV stigma and make sure that everyone knows their status without fear!

As we close out Pride Month, we end with our final word, which happens to be Pride.

The principles of Pride: dignity, respect, affirmation, courage, visibility are lived out every day in our patient care and advocacy. Mazzoni Center will continue using pride as a way to continue shining a light on joy and celebration as a show of strength against those who wish to marginalize or silence our community.

We are proud to be who we are, love who we love, and serve with everything we’ve got.

Empowerment is a central and pervasive theme at Mazzoni Center, woven into our mission and the very fabric of our operations. It's about enabling LGBTQ+ individuals to take control of their health, their lives, and their futures, especially in a world that often seeks to disempower them and provide the resources, knowledge, legal support, and affirming environment necessary for them to overcome systemic barriers, heal from past harms, and ultimately live self-determined, healthy, and authentic lives.

We help people access the tools to live full, free, and healthy lives.

Belonging at Mazzoni Center means creating an environment where LGBTQ+ individuals feel fundamentally accepted, understood, affirmed, and connected within a community that actively celebrates their identities and supports their holistic well-being. It's the antithesis of rejection and isolation that many have faced in the world.

You are not an outsider. You are part of this.

Today, we remember a pivotal moment in the modern gay rights movement. It took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, when New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar located on Christopher Street in the Greenwich Village neighborhood.

Instead of accepting the police harassment that night, the patrons of Stonewall stood up and set off several days of protest.

The actions of those at Stonewall served as a catalyst for the LGBTQ+ community to live their lives freely and openly.

Innovation at Mazzoni Center is driven by our deep understanding of the evolving needs of the LGBTQ+ community and our commitment to providing cutting-edge, comprehensive care. It's not just about new technology, but about continually finding better ways to deliver services and improve outcomes. It's about constantly asking, "How can we do this better? How can we reach more people? How can we provide care that truly meets the evolving needs of our community?” This drives the expansion of services and the refinement of care models at Mazzoni Center.

We don’t just respond to change—we help create it.

Today is the 30th anniversary of . HIV testing, including self-testing, is a pathway to engaging people in care and keeping them healthy, regardless of their test result.

Which is why we have always encouraged, for the past 3 decades, everyone who is sexually active to know their status by getting tested, be it at our sexual health clinic, Washington West, at your primary care provider, or the many free HIV testing locations found here: www.phillykeeponloving.com

On the 10th anniversary of the landmark 2015 Supreme Court decision of Obergefell v. Hodges, which fundamentally reshaped LGBTQ+ rights in the United States, we take a look back at what this outcome meant for our community.

The 5-4 ruling required all states to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples but also to recognize valid same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, effectively legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, asserted that the right to marry is "inherent in the liberty of the person" and that the reasons marriage is fundamental apply with equal force to same-sex couples, allowing them to "exercise the fundamental right to marry" and achieve "equal dignity in the eyes of the law."

The ruling had sweeping implications, extending various legal rights and benefits previously denied to same-sex couples, including those related to adoption, parental rights, property transfer, employment, social security, and healthcare.
