Many people enter treatment at varying times in their lives. Perhaps you are a parent ready to enroll your child in therapy because you just can't seem to get them to listen or they often seem anxious or blue. Perhaps you are a teen or young adult looking to accept yourself and become who you really are. Perhaps you're an adult looking to gain freedom from obligation and live your life guilt free.

Perhaps you have had an extensive history of intense emotions and you're tired of white knuckling it without adequate support. Perhaps you can't stop engaging in self-destructive behaviors such as binge eating, restricted eating, purging, substance abuse, etc. Perhaps you "suck at relationships." If any of the above reasons for entering treatment resonated with you...you've come to the right place. The REAL Healing Studio specializes in helping you to find your voice and live a content life on your terms. Together we can help you find answers from within yourself and be the most authentic version of you! We treat and help you to manage: depression, anxiety, complex emotional difficulties, intense emotions, relational trauma, personality disorders, addictions, eating disorders and related concerns, body image issues and more. Kaitlin Staples, MA, ATR-BC, LPC is the founder and director of The REAL Healing Studio. She is an art psychotherapist who is a registered and board certified art therapist, and a licensed professional counselor practicing in Philadelphia, PA. Her areas of expertise include trauma, addictions, eating disorders, personality disorders, body image issues, depression, anxiety, and stress management. She also has extensive experience with high acuity populations such as treatment of individuals with severe trauma and addiction issues in medication assisted treatment programs, as well as acute inpatient psychiatric settings. Kaitlin works with children, adolescents, and adults within her private practice in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia. Kaitlin practices within a humanistic and psychodynamic framework which utilizes the exploration of the whole person from birth to the present by identifying patterns of behaviors and themes, as well as personal metaphors, symbols, and imagery. Through the exploration of internal processes and personal dynamics within the context of the therapeutic relationship and space, Kaitlin helps her patients to trace origins of issues to reach a place of awareness, understanding, and healing. Through art making, dream work, and verbal processing, the psyche is opened up in a safe and compassionate space that allows increased consciousness of unconscious desires and urges which creates the ability for insight and pathways for healing to be recognized.

We are entering into our last day here at the 2024 conference in Pittsburgh, and I can’t even begin to express how vital, moving, inspiring, and reconnecting this conference has been for me. I had taken a hiatus from these conferences for a little while, and I have to say the return is so so sweet! I’ve reconnected with so many amazing colleagues/mentors/friends. I learned about and cried over heroic tales from incredibly strong Ukrainian Art Therapists (thank you ! ) I’ve run into former students and supervisees who have made me so proud, and feel a sense of legacy and impact. I’ve learned more about altered states of consciousness, and have felt very moved by connecting with my spirit self. I’ve encountered new Jungian colleagues, who I got to analyze artwork with and had so much meaningful fun creating together. I feel reinvigorated, inspired, renewed, and so ready to start to bring in new offerings and collaborations! It’s so lovely to visit one of my homes! Next up is IRSJA next week in Minneapolis! October this year is all about renewal and rebirth, and it’s so on theme as it’s my birth month! Unfortunately I didn’t take nearly enough pictures at this conference so these are some reflective shots from Point State Park in Pittsburgh.

Yesterday was the first day of the (AATA-American Art Therapy Association) conference in Pittsburgh, PA. I attended a workshop on Shadow in artwork/art therapy with military personnel/veterans presented by Peter Buotte from the National Endowment for the Arts and Roberta J.H. Shoemaker-Beal. Although I haven’t done much work with vets, it was so lovely to connect both of my worlds on day 1! I created this piece during the workshop and titled “A return to nature and my nature” Very stimulating conversation, and impressive and passionate people doing wonderful work! Looking forward to day 2!
