Hello True North Medical Group Families,

Two important announcements have recently been made in the media:
1. Consumer Reports released an investigation into contaminants in some infant formula.
2. HHS and the FDA launched a new initiative to strengthen oversight and update regulations on infant formula.

We want to reassure you that the formulas we recommend are safe for your babies. After careful review, they meet or exceed all U.S. and European safety standards. Below is a thorough review from a credible source for more information.

In light of the recent outbreak of measles, we would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the vaccine policy at True North Pediatrics.
Your child’s health and safety is our top priority. Thus, our policy has always been not to accept families who are unwilling to vaccinate fully and on time.
If you choose to delay or refuse the recommended childhood vaccines, after a period of discussion, you will be asked to find another pediatrician.
Our practice will do the following:
• Assure a safe environment for all of our patients, families, and staff in our practices.
• Engage in educational discussion about vaccine safety and efficacy to aid in your decision making.
• Follow vaccine recommendations from the AAP and CDC.
Our practice will not:
• Utilize delayed are alternative vaccine schedules.
• Sign vaccine exemptions for any reason except medical conditions.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE RE: MEASLES
In light of the first confirmed measles case in Montgomery County, True North Pediatrics wants to assure our patients that we remain in close communication with the Montgomery County Department of Health. The Department of Health has completed all contact tracing for this case as it pertains to our facility. Because of adherence to pertinent safety protocols, there has been minimal exposure to True North Pediatrics staff and patients with this case.
Unless you are traveling to a location where Measles is endemic, there has been no change to the recommended standard MMR vaccine policy. Measles is preventable with 2 doses of MMR vaccine which the CDC recommends is given at 12-15 months of age and then at 4 years of age.
True North Pediatrics continues to strictly follow the AAP and CDC guidelines and will continue to be vigilant to protect the families who place their trust in us.
