A few years back, during a funeral mass for a beloved friend, (Chris Walton) Fr. Joe Campellone had asked the question...does a dog have a soul? It was one of his countless incredible homilies and that question has stayed with me since that day. The little, well dressed, perfect gentleman of a dog in this photo was at our funeral home today because his human dad and his best friend, had passed away. The departed loved his dog, as he did his wonderful children, grandchildren and extended family. His daughter eulogized her father, very poignantly and with grace. She spoke of his love for his family and being a good father and husband. Dogs are part of our families as well...more so than you can even put into words. If that much love can be given by a creature to make our existence on Earth a happy one...then that energy and love must live on in the afterlife....therefore, they must have a soul... and if I had to guess, the departed that was honored today, can certainly attest to that now. It was a beautiful day.
Rest In Peace
