While social media might present a curated version of reality at times, it also offers countless opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences and find inspiration in their stories. Let's shift focus from what appears perfect online and instead draw support and hope from genuine interactions.
The last few months have been some of the most difficult of my life, overcoming much hardship, but being very private. I dare to be different, and to be more transparent. 🌱♥️😮💨
After a decade, serving as a DEI professional, culture, and changemaker, and trauma therapist, I often still cite my work in the creative arts as inspiration for my work today. I ran a nonprofit, Theatrical Trainer, that I founded for five years supporting the bio psychosocial needs of artists and that time continues to inspire and inform my work today.
I decided to speak out on the topic of protecting our artists and creatives and fostering a more healthy and inclusive environment for their mental health and well-being. For those that are artists, l recovering artists, or those of immense power over the creative arts and communities within them, please take a read. I feel blessed that Psychology Today continues to give me a platform and supports my work, and research. May we all be better, together.
