This day was so emotional for me because of all the self doubt I walked in with, even before ERAS season started. I am walking proof that a great village, grit,resilience , great work ethic, and perseverance can help you defeat the odds.

I took the MCAT 4x
Applied to Med School 3x
Failed my Level 2 Board exam 1st attempt
Applied to EM (scared as s**t 🥵because competitive and had my failure) !

Despite all these odds —-your BX Jamaican Shawty will Be an EMERGENCY MEDICINE DOCTOR !!!!!! God’s Plan is the ultimate destiny. 🙌🏾🙏🏽

SPEECHLESS….. 🙌🏾🙏🏽😭✨🔥3/18/22 will forever be one of the best days of my life!!! I don’t think I will ever have the words to fully describe how I felt knowing that I MATCHED Emergency Medicine at Einstein- the place that put EM in my ❤️!!!!!!! Forever grateful for this moment and opportunity!!!!

Failure and adversity is often not discussed among students... often a “hush hush” topic. Everyone is “winning”—-Not True! ❌

Know that you are NOT alone! More people fail and struggle on this journey than they would admit.

Embrace the failure and adversity if/when it comes as it will give you GRIT, RESILIENCE, and STRENGTHEN your character.
