Center for Families and Relationships

Center for Families and Relationships CFAR is a nonprofit counseling center serving the needs of individuals, couples, and families.

CFAR was founded more than 20 years ago with the intent to support and empower struggling families. Today, we continue the work that began with our founder, Maryann Volk and reach a broad and diverse population. The staff at CFAR is passionate about working with families to create safety, resiliency, heal and make lifelong positive changes. "For the first time in more than half a century, Philadelphia has recorded fewer than 225 homicides in a single year." CFAR's Together Through Trauma program is proud to be part of the network anti-violence programming that has helped make this possible. TTT provides trauma therapy, workshops and trainings in Philadelphia communities most heavily impacted by violence, and looks forward to continuing the process of healing and recovery after so many years of heightened violence.

The drop in homicides to 222 mirrors a national reduction in violence and follows years of sustained declines after Philadelphia’s homicides peaked during the pandemic.

CFAR is starting the year out strong with excellent scores from CBH. While we are so proud of our unique and innovative projects over the past few years, this is a reminder that the reason we are so successful is that our outpatient program is one of the best in Philadelphia. A huge thank you to the CFAR team for approaching the work with such passion, and thank you to our partners and supporters as well. We couldn’t do it without you!

Day 8 of our top 10 highlights of 2025!
