For Dr. Hans Kersten, a pediatrician at , that means addressing challenges like food insecurity and literacy head-on. In addition to his work at St. Chris, he also serves as a professor at . Through his leadership, our Reach Out and Read program has grown into one of the most successful in the nation, transforming every well-child visit into an opportunity to spark curiosity and confidence through books.

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children proudly dedicated a stunning new four-story mural titled Embracing the Light, now gracing the exterior wall next to the Emergency Department on East Erie Avenue.

Created by artist James Burns in partnership with Mural Arts Philadelphia's Porch Light program, the mural aims to bring awareness to the unprecedented crisis in child and adolescent mental health, and to highlight mental health and su***de prevention resources. Painted with the help of hundreds of members of the community, the vibrant artwork stands as a beacon of hope and healing, and a reminder that vital resources are available to children and adults in distress.

Community, care, and connection at St. Chris!

This summer, our 12th Annual Bike Safety Rodeo brought nearly 50 children and families together to learn bike safety, practice new skills, and ride away with 45 bikes and 55 helmets, all free of charge.

And soon after, our 15th Annual Back-to-School Carnival welcomed more than 4,000 children and families, where every one of our 3,000 free backpacks stuffed with school supplies found a home, helping kids start the school year prepared and full of hope.

These events remind us of what’s possible when our community comes together. With your generosity, we can continue creating safe, joyful, and meaningful experiences for children in the communities we serve.

🌟 We’re proud to share that St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children has earned Titanium status – the top recognition – in the Donate Life PA Hospital Challenge!

As part of the month-long challenge in April, hospitals engaged in a variety of activities to highlight the life-changing impact of organ donation. This year, 121 hospitals statewide participated.

In addition to this honor, Tower Health was awarded 3rd place in Eastern PA for promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation. 💙💚
