's 15th Annual Back-to-School Carnival on Friday was the biggest and best yet!

4,200 children and families from the community took part; 3,500 free backpacks stuffed with school supplies were distributed; and more than 50 community partners were onsite providing valuable resources for families.

The Carnival is the most visible example of how St. Christopher's reaches out beyond the walls of the hospital to help enrich and enhance the lives of children and families in the communities we serve. And it keeps growing and getting better each year!

Thank you to all of our great volunteers,
and to our generous sponsors and donors, without whom we wouldn’t be able to host such an incredible event. We can't wait till next year!

Recently, we were thrilled to welcome more than 200 alumni to the St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Physician Alumni Reunion. Physicians from across the country gathered to reconnect with former classmates, celebrate shared memories, and honor the incredible 150-year legacy of St. Chris.

What began as a small clinic in 1875 has grown into a leading pediatric institution serving tens of thousands of children throughout the Greater Philadelphia region each year. That transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and compassion of the physicians who have shaped St. Chris through the decades.

A heartfelt thank you to for generously donating a beautiful space that allowed our alumni to reconnect, reflect, and create new memories. Here’s to 150 years of St. Chris, and to many more to come!

A little rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the dozens of kids who took part in the annual Bike Safety Rodeo, held recently at the hospital. They each received a free bike and helmet, learned about bike safety, and beginners got their first lessons.

A big thank-you to our community partners who helped make the event happen: Neighborhood Bike Works performed safety checks on all the bikes; the Philadelphia Department of Health distributed information on Vision Zero to eliminate traffic deaths; SEPTA provided education about their efforts to make streets safer with bike and bus lanes; and Greener Partners brought its always-popular pedal-powered smoothie maker. 🎈

When JaNét Pearson was just 18 months old in 1979, she was caught in an apartment fire and suffered burns over almost half of her body; she became one of the first patients treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children by Dr. Stuart Hulnick, the renowned surgeon after whom the hospital’s Burn Unit is named.

46 years later, St. Chris honored the now Philadelphia Fire Department lieutenant during this National EMS Week for her resilience, her drive, and her positive spirit, all of which led her to achieve her dream of becoming a paramedic treating young trauma victims, and in 2023 earning promotion to Lieutenant in the PFD. Thank you to Lt. Pearson and all EMS personnel for the amazing work they do!

It's a story she grew up hearing because she was only 18 months old at the time of a devastating fire that injured her and her father badly.

The “Wizard of Oz”-themed party was a wonderful night of music, dancing, food and fun, made possible through the generosity of Dunkin’s Joy in Childhood Foundation and the Committee to Benefit the Children.
