Sorry (not really lol) for another long post, but I just can’t stay quiet about this…
Some of y’all probably saying I’m the most unlucky person around, or under a curse, or maybe even being punished… Truth is, I’ve felt that way before in the not-so-distant past, even screamed out similar words to my Heavenly Father. Not proud to admit, but gratefully, I don’t hold those sentiments or feelings for very long, and I repent.
In just the span of barely a week, you have heard me share about my misfortune w/my buggy, just a day and a half before a day I needed it most. But as I shared, God came thru, sending me angels (in the form of my Amish neighbors, Chad McCoy, Chad Rush, Bernie Corley and many, many others. Then my son-in-law, Terry did an amazing job of getting rid of all the water (I think lol) getting it running and in just barely a week, I’m driving it w/ole Gop in the back!
Well, as another angel, Kacey Cutright and her mom Alicia, offered goggles, mask, snorkel and fins so I could dive and hopefully find my windshield, I headed that way on my buggy….Since it was a super beautiful day, I decided to take Agape on an even longer ride after getting the goggles, and end up on the backwaters of Tygart Lake. As I drove my buggy (which was running GREAT!) to the top of Clemtown Hill, I smelled smoke….not sure if it was me or somewhere/thing else, I stopped and saw a bunch of smoke coming from my buggy! I got out walked around and saw I’d run on a flat rear tire, which was now chewed up! No spare…. ☹.
I had a choice….I could BLAME God (Rick Warren says you spell BLAME “Be-Lame”), for my circumstances…beat myself up…or kick/cuss/scream. But I chose to just trust that it was gonna work out. I chose to be grateful it was beautiful day, not raining (especially w/Agape in back, and no windshield!), not too hot, if I had to walk to find a neighbor….
Thinking I probably didn’t even have cell service, I pulled out my phone and here’s a message from my daughter “Hey, do you really need tires? Terry just found you 4 tires on rims, just like the ones you have” WOW!!!! So, I called Terry and explained my situation, and he said “Hold on, I’ll go get the tires, and be there ASAP” I was so out in the boondocks, I couldn’t even tell him where I was!” But he pulled out his phone, and we figured it out.
I took Agape to find some water at a nearby creek, and some young woman stopped and wanted to love on Agape (ole Gop comes thru again 😉), and offered to help. Then outta the blue, our own local PB football coach, Nick Mayle drives by (by now, I’m just laying in the back of my buggy, getting ready to take a nap, as I knew it’d be awhile before Terry got there…), and after teasing me for just taking a nap in the middle of an intersection, went home, and came back w/water, fruit and snacks….and he hung out there until Terry rolls up w/4 brand new tires and rims, power tools, heavy duty jack, and we (mostly HE) changed all 4 wheels, and I was on my way.
I may or may not have shed a few tears of gratitude as I drove home, just amazed at how God comes thru, again and again, thru so many people like y’all (and just as I type this, the song plays “When I needed rescue, Jesus You came thru…” I just can’t make this kinda stuff up!)
Welp, if you made it thru this novel, thanks for taking the time to share another journey w/Michael P, and thanks for letting me share…
