Women's Heritage Walk

Women's Heritage Walk The Women's Heritage Walk has evolved! We are now in India, Bhutan and Hawai'i. Walk With Us It offers a unique opportunity for lifestyle changes.

The next Women’s Heritage Walk India will take place from the 5th - the 11th of February, 2023, and honors the women of Pune and their remarkable culture. Heritage is a birthright, legacy, and inheritance of tradition, culture, and customs. This walk will afford women a unique understanding of the culture, habits, and traditions developed from shared experiences through a distinctively innovative

approach. The 12-week training process leading to the walk prepares women in all aspects of wellness (physical, emotional, intellectual, relational, and spiritual) for this walk. The cultural heritage of this region passed down through traditions, customs, and habits imbue the women of today with the same strength, resilience, and tenacity found in their predecessors. This experience is a celebration of the past and an invitation to shape a better future. For expatriate women, this unique experience will offer an appreciation for a host country that has been generous and embracing. Through this walk, the women will derive a heightened sense of awareness from a pure understanding of the region and the local women with whom they will walk.

The key is really knowing yourself, knowing how to keep a positive mindset no matter what’s going on or what kind of day you’re having. - Cheryl Stearns, American skydiving champion

I just returned from an incredible time traveling and working in Fiji! The sights were breathtaking, from the crystal-clear waters to the lush green landscapes. The vibrant colors of the coral reefs and the stunning sunsets took my breath away. The smells of the fresh ocean breeze mixed with tropical flowers were intoxicating—and I live in Hawaii!
What truly made the experience unforgettable were the people. Everywhere I went, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine kindness. The unique experiences, from participating in traditional Fijian ceremonies, dance, and song to exploring hidden gems off the beaten path, including zip lining and mud baths, and talking with a lady who had a significant stroke and then started an eco-friendly farm, enriched my journey in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
Traveling gives us so much more than just a change of scenery. It broadens our horizons, allowing us to see the world from different perspectives. It nurtures our sense of curiosity and adventure, and it helps us grow psychologically by pushing us out of our comfort zones. The memories and connections we make along the way remind us of the beauty and diversity of our world.
Feeling grateful for this incredible adventure and looking forward to many more!

The fresh breeze of mountain air, clear streams glittering under the golden rays of sunshine, trees and more trees, and the intermittent knell of a prayer wheel spinning with the attached blessings; to me, this is the essence of Bhutan. I remain grateful for the opportunity to have volunteered at the Psychiatric Unit in Thimphu for four months. This allowed me to be of service and to spend time getting familiar with the culture and heritage of this beautiful country.
Having worked in mental health for over thirty-five years, I was fascinated with Gross National Happiness. I did my due diligence to discover it was not just a transitory individual pursuit of making myself happy but was rooted in Wellness and all the areas required to truly find peace and contentment in our lives or Happiness. Day 7: A Sand Mandala is an ancient, sacred Tibetan Buddhist art form, which represents a perfect universe. The geometric patterns and colors represent a map to transform the ordinary human mind into an enlightened mind. The destruction of a sand mandala is a metaphor for the impermanence of life and a means of releasing its healing power. During the closing ceremony, the sand is swept up and placed in an urn. The sand is carried to a nearby body of water, into which it is deposited.

Our Story

The Women’s Heritage Walk is an annual, five-day multi-faceted trek from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates. The 120 km walk recreates the seasonal journey made by Emirati tribes from the coast to the inland oasis, where families would traditionally join the date harvest and enjoy the cooler climate of Al Ain during the hottest months of the year. Established in 2015, the Women’s Heritage Walk is a life-affirming experience that takes women over the age of 18 on a journey through history, connects them to the heritage and culture of the UAE, and helps them forge deeper bonds to themselves and each other through physical, mental, and emotional development. Organizers will also be piloting a dedicated Men’s Heritage Walk for the first time in 2020 that will be scheduled separately from the women’s walk.
