We're training our best to care for you physically and spiritually.

At St. Luke’s University Health Network, we’re proud to offer one of the nation’s few robust, accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs. In 2023, we launched CAPES (Chaplain and Palliative Educational Services), a program that brings together Chaplain Residents, Palliative Care Fellows and Advanced Nurse Practitioners to collaborate on holistic patient care for shared learning. In just two years, CAPES has:

✅ Increased use of Palliative and Spiritual Care services
✅ Boosted recruitment for our CPE and Palliative Medicine Fellowship programs
✅ Earned national recognition, with faculty presenting at major conferences in 2024 and 2025

🎉 Congratulations to the 2024–2025 CAPES Cohort!

We were to support and participate in numerous National Night Out events across our communities. These events gave us the opportunity to connect with our neighbors and local law enforcement while highlighting the services we provide and sharing how we make a difference in the communities we serve. We are honored to be part of such amazing communities.

Ruth Kordwitz, Business and Data Analyst at St. Luke's Sacred Heart Campus, recently celebrated 50 years of service at St. Luke's!

Ruth was first a patient at Sacred Heart Hospital in 1974 and discovered her love for health care settings. She joined the team officially as a respiratory therapist, receiving on-the-job training. She later accepted positions within the OR, starting as an anesthesia tech and earning a role as a business manager. Since 2018, she has worked as a business and data analyst for the department.

To this day, she reflects back on her decision to join St. Luke's and her family's legacy of healing at Sacred Heart, caring for some of the most underserved people in the area.

"Sacred Heart is very close to our family," she says. "Like many people, we work and stay here for a very long time."

Help us celebrate a half-century of exceptional service! Thank you, Ruth! 💙

Nature is thriving at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus and the Purple Martins are back!

These stunning little flyers have officially moved into cozy, gourd-shaped homes nestled near the pond and maple trees, bringing new life to our 500-acre campus.

Once common in the Lehigh Valley, Purple Martins now rely entirely on human-made nests to survive east of the Mississippi. Their return is a big win for conservation and a testament to the thoughtful work of our landscaping team.

Photographs of the birds were sent to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, N.Y., which confirmed they were Purple Martins. Peter Saenger of Muhlenberg College Acopian Center for Ornithology also reviewed the photographs and reached the same conclusion.

As ornithologist Peter Saenger said, “To have first-year success means you have a very good location … what you’ve done here is phenomenally important.”

These birds aren’t just beautiful, they’re beneficial. As the largest swallows in North America, Purple Martins feast on flying insects, helping to naturally manage pests. With ponds, sunflower fields, and an organic farm that supports our hospital, Anderson Campus offers the perfect habitat for these birds. 🌻🌿

We’re hashtag to welcome them home and support the harmony between people and wildlife.

🎉 Celebrating 30 Years of Care in Upper Bucks! 🏥
This August marks three decades since Quakertown Hospital joined St. Luke’s University Health Network—our first hospital acquisition and the beginning of our commitment to the Upper Bucks community.
Since then, we've:
✅ Opened the state-of-the-art St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus in 2019
✅ Penn Foundation joined in 2021 creating one of the largest fully-integrated networks of mental health and addiction services in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey
✅ Provided care to 2.8+ million patients across Bucks County
✅ Welcomed Grand View Health in Sellersville to the Network this July
“St. Luke’s is more than health care—it’s a pillar of our community and a source of family-sustaining jobs,” says Dennis Pfleiger, President of St. Luke’s Upper Bucks and Quakertown campuses.
💙 Thank you for trusting us with your health for 30 years—and counting!
