There is so much in the world right now that can feel difficult to understand. When we look outward, the pace of change, the instability, and the deep divisions can leave us ungrounded, searching for something steady to hold.

What we can anchor into is wisdom that has endured. Across vast distance and radically different landscapes—the high mountains of Tibet and the world’s largest forest, the Amazon, home of the Yawanawá—two Indigenous cultures carry strikingly aligned understandings of the dream world, the plant realm, and humanity’s relationship with the living Earth. Though separated by geography, their cosmologies, symbols, and teachings echo one another, reminding us that truth is not bound by place.

This shared language of dreams, plants, and sacred ecology offers a deeper orientation—one rooted in listening, reciprocity, and relationship. It reminds us that we are not alone, and that ancient wisdom continues to guide us toward balance, reverence, and care for all life.

Sacred Bridge is an invitation to sit with these convergences, to learn from them, and to remember what connects us—across cultures, lands, and time.

Walking as prayer.
Presence as action.
Compassion as a path forward.

Since October 26, 2025, a group of nineteen monks from the Vietnamese Theravada Buddhist tradition have been walking—step by mindful step—from Texas toward Washington, D.C., on a 2,300-mile Walk for Peace.

Initiated by monks from the Huong Dao Vipassana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth, this 110-day pilgrimage is rooted in the teachings of Gautama Buddha, offering a quiet yet powerful response to a world in need of loving-kindness, patience, and clarity.

Moving through the southeastern United States and onward to the nation’s capital, the monks walk not as protest, but as practice—pausing in towns and cities to meet communities through silence, dialogue, and walking meditation. Some, including head monk Bhikkhu Pannakara, are completing the journey barefoot as an expression of humility and devotion.

Accompanied by a rescue dog named Aloka, their presence has become a living reminder that peace is not an abstract idea—it is something we embody, step by step.

At Menla and Tibet House US, we honor and uplift this offering of mindful action and compassionate presence in the world. May their walk remind us all that the path itself can be a teaching.

ECOLOGICAL IDENTITY & SPIRITUAL NURTURING

March 20–22, 2026 with Katie Garcia

Step into a retreat where theater becomes ritual and nature becomes our teacher. Raised By This Place is an immersive weekend led by artist and facilitator Katie Garcia, inviting participants to explore ecological and spiritual identity through embodied storytelling, creative expression, and ritual play.

Drawing from Indigenous creation stories, improvisational theater, and children’s ways of knowing, we reclaim voice, movement, and imagination as pathways to presence, healing, and connection. Through collective rituals and playful exploration, participants reconnect with the wisdom of the body, the land, and the inner child.

For artists, educators, seekers, and anyone longing for deeper relationship with self, community, and the living earth.

Please visit the retreat section of our web site for more information.

Hear Hushahu Yawanawá’s story and her presentation, The Feminine Awakening, in the Sacred Bridge Gathering Online Gathering. Hushahu became the first Yawanawá woman to enter a sacred spiritual study, spending over a year in deep isolation in Samakẽi. There, she discovered the world of the Pajés as a woman—an awakening she expressed through her art and her voice, bringing a feminine presence to songs traditionally carried by men.

Her return marked a profound transformation, inspiring women and men alike to reconnect with their ancestral traditions. Today, Hushahu is a respected spiritual leader whose visionary designs influence Indigenous art across Brazil. In 2024, she entered Runua Xinã, a sacred retreat, deepening her connection to ancestral wisdom in service to those who seek her guidance.

Hushahu carries a nurturing yet powerful presence, sharing her spiritual knowledge with deep love and devotion.

Meisou Meditation is a lineage practice from Japan focused on awakening to the Clear Light, our inherent nature, through a grounded integration of body, breath, and awareness.

This immersive training offers something rare:
a structured foundation that prepares the nervous system, body, and mind to support genuine awakening rather than bypass it.

Participants will learn:
• Core principles of Clear Light meditation
• Physical Shinto practices to move qi and stabilize the body
• Breath-work to regulate the nervous system
• Guided Meisou Meditation with time for integration

The retreat focuses on the foundational stages of the path, giving practitioners the tools and understanding needed to continue safely and effectively on their own.
