Why is my contact lens prescription different than my glasses prescription?

Since contact lenses are fit right on top of the cornea they are worn with virtually NO VERTEX DISTANCE. This can prove problematic; however, because most customers are refracted at a 10 to 14 mm distance. Due to the fact that there is such a great distance between refraction and fit for contact lenses all contact lens prescription over + or – 4.00 diopters need to be compensated for vertex distance.

What is the differance between a Chalazion and a Stye?

Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between a stye and a chalazion.

A stye is very painful. It often appears at the eyelid’s edge, usually caused by an infected eyelash root. It often swells, sometimes affecting the entire eyelid.

A chalazion is not usually painful. It is a bump that usually develops farther back on the eyelid than a stye. It is caused by a clogged oil gland. Rarely does it make the entire eyelid swell.

Is it safe to use expired eye drops?
If it has already passed, it's time to toss them!
You should also discard eye drops that appear cloudy, discolored, or have particles in them. These are signs that bacteria growth may have occurred and the eye drops are no longer safe to use.

Age-related Macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common form of vision loss in adults over age 55 in developed countries. It is a condition that worsens over time. AMD affects the part of the retina that processes what you see in font of you, known as the Macula, and causes a gradual loss of central vision or acute vision loss.
