Is chronic disease inevitable?

It’s not your genes. It’s the world we live in.

Most people think they’re destined to get sick because of their family history, but that’s not the whole story. Chronic disease is largely preventable, and one of the most powerful influences on long-term health is what we eat.

In my TEDx talk, I share a powerful truth about what’s really behind the diseases we see today and what we can do to protect our health.

Ultra-processed foods, like Red Dye #3 and brominated vegetable oil may soon be banned from Arizona public schools. These additives are linked to serious health risks, including cancer and ADHD.

As I shared with azfamily 3TV CBS 5, these “Frankenfoods” have no place in our children’s meals. Reforming school lunches is a step toward reducing childhood obesity, diabetes, and other preventable conditions.

In an inspiring initiative during National Nutrition Month, fourth-year medical students at the University of Arizona School of Medicine in Phoenix are taking their learning from the classroom to the garden. 🍅🥦

These students are not just learning to cook; they are learning to cure. With only 19 hours of nutrition education in their entire medical schooling, this program aims to bridge the gap, teaching them to use food as medicine.

Food is the number one risk factor for preventable diseases. This initiative not only educates our future doctors but also prepares them to pass on this critical knowledge to their patients, truly embodying the idea that prevention is better than cure.

Together, they're cooking up not just meals but a healthier future. Watch the video to learn more.
