What did you have for dinner tonight?

It was Italian night at my house. I made a quick and easy Cavatappi Puttanesca. This recipe included an olive tapenade which I was a little hesitant to add in BUT it was so delicious.

Once upon a time, there were so many foods I used to hate like mushrooms, beans and tomatoes. Once I learned how to cook these foods and flavor them …the game changed!!!

THIS is why so many fail when they get the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes!!! They are given some BS answer as to how to go about tackling their health condition! Who can blame the doctor? Why? Because these super foods are an excellent source of fiber and protein, with 15 grams of fiber and 18 grams of protein per cup of black beans.

Eating beans regularly may bring a number of health benefits, including a lower body weight, slimmer waistline, and lower body mass index (BMI), as well as protection against heart disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

Beans can even help obesity, as evidenced by one study, from the University of Copenhagen, found that men lost more weight when beans were their main source of protein as compared to meat.. Say What? YES

Finally, studies have shown that beans have the power to lower your LDL 'bad' cholesterol and even guard against diabetes, making them an excellent addition to your regular meal plan.

A bean-rich diet may even help you live longer. The longest-living communities in the world ( The Blue Zones) eat diets full of beans and bean-based foods like tofu and have the lowest incidence of chronic diseases.

If you want to age gracefully without falling victim to chronic diseases and medication, eat your beans!! There are so many to choose from and they are very versatile.

This is amazing!! Remember you are what you eat! Feed your belly and make it a garden of life and not a cemetery of death. You will still get all the protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals you need. The bonus is getting in your FIBER recommendation that so many fail to consider.
