I was recently told that someone felt Dillard Memorial was “too corporate” and that families might be treated like numbers. I understand how important perception is in moments of grief, so I wanted to share my experience.

As a Family Service Counselor, I have sat with families during some of the hardest moments of their lives. I have been there when decisions felt overwhelming, when emotions were heavy, and when people simply needed someone to listen and guide them through the next step.

Those moments are never rushed, and they are never transactional. Every client and every family we serve is treated with care, patience, and respect, the same way we would want our own families to be treated during such a difficult time. They are never just a number.
