Here is something I didn't expect to see on the farm. A fawn showed up and played with our dog for a long while. They chased each other and even laid down together. It made me think long and hard about these times. How a little compassion and love (for someone that "on paper", you should snarl at) feels so miraculous right now. Thank you, sweet Delia. I am sorry that the mail lady is so afraid of you!

This is Cordy. Roman and I bought him in Chengdu, China in 2016, at China's largest herb market. That place was something else. It taught me so much about how herbs are handled in transport, what the different qualities of herbs looked like, smelled like, and cost. He was the only thing in that entire market that did not have a negotiable price. But I was determined to have him.

In case you didn't know, he is a cordyceps-infected caterpillar. Cordyceps is one of the most expensive and prized medicines in China. I have actually found a few on our farm in Ohio! Slightly different species, but who knows!?

It’s like when you finally get a new mattress and wonder how you ever survived on that lumpy old one. Or when you finally clean a mirror and you’re like, wow, I was living in fog before this?!

Maifan stones! Here's something that has been bothering me for a while. I am always reminding people to add trace minerals to their water. This is because our nice clean filtered water is not actually what humans evolved with. We used to actually drink from water that seeped through porous rocks in the earth, becoming mineralized along the way. When we filter it, we do indeed get rid of the whole "parasites and infectious disease" aspects of drinking from natural water sources like springs and streams. But, we also lose those important trace minerals.

This is where maifan stones come in. Traditionally, these were used to make excellent tasting water for tea. Now, they are being put to use as a very easy natural remineralizing stone. All you do is clean them, boil them, and then put them in your water pitcher!

It makes me feel like I am drinking from a fish bowl, and that is kind of neat really. What do they look like to you?

Pink eye sounds so cute, right? Like little baby bunnies. But, this eye condition is torturous, and creates chaos in families and school systems. If caught soon enough, this quick trick will stop it in its tracks! And making it fun is the way to go when treating littles.

So here is what you do:

At the first sight of itching or redness:
Before bed, take a chamomile tea bag and soak it in 1/4 cup hot water for 10 minutes. Wring it out enough that it won't drip down their face.
Place the warm chamomile tea bag compress over their eye and secure it with a bandana, scarf, stretchy headband, etc. If you have a pirate eye patch, you get massive bonus points. Let them sleep with this eye mask on overnight. If you caught it soon enough, the issue will likely be resolved by morning. It worked every time for us! It also instantly soothes.

Of course, this also works on adults.

This is an Ayurvedic eye treatment called Netra Tarpana. A dam is made from dough and formed around the eyes. Melted and cooled ghee is poured in and allowed to soak the eyes. They use this treatment for conjunctivitis, dry, red, or irritated eyes. I do a similar thing with an eye cup filled with melted and cooled ghee or raw sesame oil. So soothing!

A calming, heart-nourishing brew you can make in minutes

You’ll need:
• 6–8 dried chrysanthemum blossoms
• 5–6 dried rose buds
• 2 Tbsp goji berries
• 4 cups hot water (just under boiling)

How to make:
Rinse gojis, add all ingredients to a teapot.
Pour over hot water.
Steep 5–7 min.
Strain & sip
Sweet, floral, and nourishing for the blood, eyes, and heart.
