When I talk about back pain with my patients, it never comes from a place of lack. It comes from lived experience.
By 21, I had injured my low back more times than I could count. I was doing everything my patients tell me they’re doing now—stretching nonstop, wearing a Thermacare patch every single day, convincing myself that because I was young, nothing could really be wrong. And yet I was in chronic pain… every day.
My first major injury wasn’t from a car accident. It was during a leg press. As I pushed up, my back shifted, I heard a loud pop, and felt excruciating pain shoot down both legs. I was terrified I had paralyzed myself. I could barely press the gas pedal to drive home. At 20 years old, my dad had to lift me out of my car and carry me into the house. Later, he helped me back into the car to see a chiropractor on a Sunday afternoon—God bless him—because I physically could not move. I slept on hardwood floors because the pain was so intense.
Here’s what I didn’t understand back then: healing the spine requires consistency.
It’s not about quick fixes. It’s not about coming in “whenever it flares up” like I did back then. That’s the equivalent of putting a band-aid on your spine and hoping for the best.
When we built Empower, I knew we had to do it differently. Our patients deserve honesty. They deserve a plan. They deserve care that addresses the root cause—not temporary relief that fades the moment life gets busy again.
In our office, we recommend the care your body actually needs to get real, lasting results. Because popping in and out won’t create stability. And as your doctors, it’s our responsibility to tell you that—so you don’t waste your time, your energy, or your money on something that won’t hold long term.
You deserve more than a quick fix. You deserve restoration.
