Dimension of Wellness: Vocational Wellness
Activity: Bean Auction
Story: Preferred Hospice joined us to lead a Bean Auction so residents could bid for items they wanted. Our residents had so much fun with the friendly competition and even pooled their beans toward the end to help a friend get the necklace she wanted. Many of our participants said they hadn't been to an auction in years and are already looking forward to the next one in October!

PASTORS, SPEAKERS, & WORSHIP TEAMS NEEDED
In order to prioritize our Spiritual Wellness, we are looking to host a Revival Week at CMNC for our residents, staff, or anyone who wants to attend October 13th-17th and we are needing people who would be interested in speaking or leading times of worship. Please contact us ASAP if you are interested in coming up to serve our community in this way. We are also looking for a Women’s Prayer Group and a Support Group to come up and meet during the day in one of our open time slots.

Activity: Beach Therapy
Story: We decided to sneak in one more summer adventure before the first day of fall on Monday! Crystal, our DON, brought in sand and shells for some beach therapy this week. Residents were able to enjoy the sand and find their own shells to keep while enjoying the sights and sounds of Navarre Beach.

The Clarks Mountain Therapy Department strives to provide the best quality therapy for our community through our inpatient, outpatient and home health programs. We provide Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy to our patients that are in need of recovery to regain their strength and ability to return to their prior level. Shaun Chilton (DPT) and Trevor Zimmer (PTA) provides evaluations and therapy for pain, stiffness, discomfort, and/or loss of ability with the body. Hannah Baily (COTA) focuses on upper body strengthening, fine motor control and activities of daily living. Brittney Glass-Ezell (M.A. CCC-SLP) provided evaluations and intervention in speech, language, swallowing and neurological disorders.

🌿 This Week’s Wellness Win 🌿

Dimension of Wellness: Intellectual Wellness
Activity: Bingo Hour 🔵🔴⚪️🟢🟡
Story: Every Monday morning at 10am our residents gather in the dining room to enjoy Bingo, but at Clark's Mountain, Bingo isn't always what it seems. We alternate between Prize Bingo and Bingo Hour each week so today we want to highlight what makes Bingo Hour so special. We use this time to focus on our Intellectual Wellness by playing brain games while they clear their cards and reset for the next Bingo game. We have covered topics like state capitals/birds or flowers, country's flags, Taboo, and random trivia. This week we have enjoyed answering Family Feud style questions, so pictured are the residents who got the top answer on each card. Join us Monday mornings as we play Bingo and work to improve our mind and body along the way!

Thank you to all of our family members that joined us for our Family Bingo Night! We loved hosting you and getting to celebrate you as we kicked off our survey window. The residents and staff had a wonderful time getting to play alongside our family members and even snuck in a couple Bingo wins before the family members. Story: Almost every Tuesday morning from Spring through Fall, our residents gather on our front porch the get some fresh air, visit with friends, and prioritize time in nature. We enjoy listening to music, having coffee, watching the birds and squirrels, exercising, or whatever we choose to do that week.

Checking in with Clark’s Mountain

This month we will be celebrating several National Days including Chocolate Milkshake Day, Pancake Day, and National Coffee Day. We will also be celebrating Environmental Services Week September 14th-20th, so if you see any of our hard working staff that serve in housekeeping or laundry, make sure to thank them for all that they do for our residents and community! All of our staff will get to participate in our annual Skills Fair on September 26th. Here they will complete hands on training and education to refresh old skills and learn new ones in our ever changing world of healthcare.
We have also started celebrating our weekly wellness wins and posting them to our facility page every Thursday afternoon so make sure to follow along and share all of the things we have been doing!

Activity: Fall Baby Shower
Story: to last fall when our Residents planned and hosted a Fall Baby Shower for three of our employees as they were preparing to welcome new babies into their families. Our residents worked together to pick a theme and decorations, compile a menu, and picked out the games for all of our attendees. We all had so much fun working together and watching our vision come to life. We are excited to put our planning committee back in action this fall as we work together to plan a Gender Reveal party for the rest of the residents.

First of all, I would like to thank God above all. He showed up and showed out with all the money that was raised from the fish fry benefit. To the community, you all are angels and my family and I appreciate you more than you know. Lastly my Americare family, from the top to the bottom you have supported me and my family beyond measure in the wake of my brother's passing. I couldn’t ask for a better work family! True family values at its best! Thanks again to all involved in the fish fry who donated time, money or items for our upcoming Auction Sept 20th at 4pm.
