What "A Calm Mind Massage" stands for:
I have been asked many times as to why I named my business "A Calm Mind Massage". I became a massage therapist 7 years ago with the dream and determination to help people not only find a way to deal with their physical pain, but to find a career avenue that would allow me to help with the world-wide issue of overstimulation, chronic stress, over-activation of our "fight or flight" mental and physical response, and to help heal the havoc all of this wreaks on the body and mind. I wanted to train and study to effectively learn the language of the body to not only hear its needs, but to be able to translate it to my clients and to educate them on what their body and mind needs for them to heal, to relax, and to release tension.
We force our bodies through so much- Hard work days, overtime, unrealistic expectations, physical exertion without rest or proper recovery, overlooking our own needs to meet the needs of others, taking on coworkers' stress when they over-share and force their mental baggage on you, trying to be the perfect parent. We pour until our glass is empty, without taking the time to refill it. Your body and mind provides that for you and more, but take a moment to ask yourself, "What do I do for my body and mind?" Unfortunately, the answer is usually lacking....
When you walk in my door, you give yourself over to the trust-worthy hands of your therapist, and you give the floor to your body and mind to express itself to me as to what it needs to relax and release. While it is important to communicate with your therapist areas of discomfort and pain before getting on the table, it is just as important to trust that your therapist is trained and qualified to feel and find the sources of said issues and to work with the body in the most effective way possible once you are on the table. At A Calm Mind Massage, the idea of "forcing" anything on the body and mind does not exist. My Signature Massage was created with a compilation of the techniques and alternation of pressures that have proven tried and true over my career and have had proven results with my clientele and is ever-evolving. It is uniquely customized for EVERY session based off the condition of your body and your nervous system. Above all, The Signature Massage respects the balance of physical muscle manipulation and getting your mind and nervous system to a point of feeling safe enough to release, and that does not happen without providing the technique, atmosphere, and your body's sense of feeling "heard" by respecting its needs and boundaries, and only when a calm mind is achieved through all of this can your body receive and absorb the most effective massage possible. Hence the name "A Calm Mind Massage" ❤️.
Despite our ever-growing field of medicine, stress remains the #1 contributor to chronic disease and death, and for a massage therapist to overlook that when compiling their massage methods is, in my opinion, a travesty. While my methods might not be for everyone, I am proud to stand as one of the few options available to those who are seeking overall physical and mental health without the side effects by strengthening the healthy relationship between you and your body and to watch it flourish side by side with you. Because of this, over 95% of my clients are regulars who see me on a routine basis as they understand the body and mind is not something that needs to be temporarily "whipped into shape", but something that needs to be nurtured and regularly checked in on, like any other healthy relationship in your life.
