We headed to the Werner Feed Efficiency Center to film promotional content and image quality feedback videos. It might’ve been cold, but it was great to get out of the office for a bit and capture some fresh footage! 🎥

🐂 Prepare for Spring 2026! Time-Saving Tips & Discounts! 🐂

The start of the year is almost here, and we're excited for Spring 2026. We want to help you make this busy season as smooth as possible. We have a few reminders we'd like to put out there before you get too busy.
1. Maximize Discounts with Electronic Barnsheets

Don't forget: Using electronic barnsheets can earn you a $0.10/head weights credit when weights and necessary registration numbers (if needed) are submitted electronically. This applies to regular price, problem-free cattle only. Ask your producers to use them, it saves everyone time!
We're here to help! Come to us with any questions you have on how to access or use electronic barnsheets.

2. Your Pre-Season Prep Checklist
To prepare for the busy season, make sure to:
Print plenty of CORFs or download our electronic form.
Stock up on oil.
Clear your machine memory to make more storage room. (For EVO users, ask us for the EVO Memory Clearing Tutorial.)
Sharpen your clipper blades.
Check your standoff pads.
Prepay for images! No need to worry about it later.
Grab an extra pack of remote batteries (EVO users).

3. Scanning Tips (Keep it Flowing!)
Standing on a rubber mat can keep your feet warmer.
Keep your standoff pad and oil next to a small space heater.
Keeping your heater, standoff, and oil in a metal or wooden box while you scan helps retain heat.
If your oil gets left in your vehicle overnight, place the bottle on the floor of the vehicle and turn on the floor vents to allow the oil to warm up before your scan session.
Buy canola oil, not vegetable oil! Canola oil flows much easier than vegetable oil in cold weather!

Happy Thanksgiving from the UltraInsights team! 🍂

As we gather with family and friends today, we pause to give thanks for the blessings of the harvest, the dedication of our farmers and producers, and the health of the land and the animals we steward. It's a privilege to be part of the agricultural community that feeds the world.

We are reminded of the words: "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." - Psalm 107:1

What are you most thankful for this harvest season?

Invest in Your Future: Why Heifer Data is Non-Negotiable 📈

Don't overlook one of the most crucial steps for your herd's long-term profitability: scanning your replacement heifers.

Skipping this step means you're missing out on the opportunity to refine your genetics at the source.

Higher EPD Accuracy: Every piece of heifer data you collect directly contributes to a more accurate Estimated Progeny Difference (EPD) for your entire herd, just as much as bull data. Better data means better breeding decisions.

The Starting Point: Your replacement heifers are the foundation for your future bull sales. The decisions you make about them today directly impact the quality and value of the bulls you'll be marketing in 2027 and beyond.

Cull Smart, Not Blind: Scanning allows you to identify and cull the bottom end before you invest more time and resources into them. This is the most efficient way to raise your genetic performance.

Make the move that pays off for years to come. 💸

Rain and mud… an ultrasound technician’s worst nightmare. 😅

Wet cattle and oil don’t mix, so sometimes it’s best to wait for clearer skies (and cleaner, drier cattle).

These shots from New Zealand technician Nathan Aitken-Cade capture the full range of scanning season: the tough conditions and the rewarding moments that follow.
