Will post more information & updates when we know more but I’m asking for financial assistance, prayers & positive vibes for my son, Taylor.
Taylor is a kind, independent, hardworking, caring young man that has a big heart for others! He (we) don’t like to ask for help but unfortunately, this time, Taylor needs assistance. He has no insurance & is expected to pay all medical expenses out of pocket, upfront. He has applied for financial assistance, but they are weeks out on even being able to begin reviewing his paperwork. He does not qualify for Medicaid. Any assistance is greatly appreciated whether it be financial to help with his medical expenses, prayers, positive vibes or sharing this with others.
On July 2nd, Taylor went to urgent care about 4:30pm for passing out at work (hitting his head), for an extended period of time. Did labs & EKG but all looked good. He went back to work to try to finish his shift (which we later learned that he wasn’t coherent on what he was doing or saying) and within 20 minutes of being back at work, he passed out again (hitting his head hard a 2nd time) and had a Grand mal seizure in which several bystanders said lasted approximately 5-6 minutes. He was then taken by ambulance to the ER (bill is approximately $2000). He had quite a large gap of memory loss, which as of today has slowly started coming back.
Many more tests (EKG, CT scans, labs & etc.) were done. We received some results but still waiting on more results and more testing to be done. A 1.4 cm calcified mass (tumor) was found at the bottom/within his left occipital lobe (bottom left of brain). He was put on anti-eptileptic seizure medication. Per SD state law, his license was revoked for a 1-year period or unless he is medically cleared.
July 7th: Taylor met with a P*P regarding a follow up, MRI scheduling, neurology appointment referral and a neurosurgeon appointment. MRI of his brain (one with contrast & one without contrast) is scheduled for July 24th. (This billing is estimated to be approximately $7500). He will see a neurologist in Sioux Falls (approximately a 3-hour drive one way) on August 13th to determine the next steps. He will then have an appointment with a neurosurgeon (in Sioux Falls) to determine possible cause, effects & if surgery will be necessary or not.
He’s feeling okay & has lots of restrictions in place which includes no driving & etc. as well as twice/daily anti-epileptic medication. He is trying to continue to work as much as he possibly can.
His bills will continue to come in as more tests & appointments are done and this has him (us) very concerned. So far, just the ambulance & MRI is going to be approximately $9500. This does not include any doctor appointments, urgent care bill, ER bill, tests/labs that were done in urgent care & ER, doctors, specialists, medication, trips to/from Sioux Falls, loss of work (both himself & parents to drive him) and etc. Any & all support is greatly appreciated! ❤️dtndn
