Chair Pose has always been one of those poses that is on my least favorite pose list. We all know that it can burn! 😂 However, Chair Pose has wonderful benefits for the body! Its most obvious benefit is strengthening, but not just in the legs! It also helps to strengthen the muscles around the spinal column, shoulders, and core abdominals. It also helps to stretch ankles, calves, and the back of your neck. It’s also a pose that can assist in balance if you are flowing in and out of the pose. Finally, the more you practice and hold chair pose, you can support your cardio health and stamina! To enter chair pose, place your feet about hips width apart (or wider if needed). Engage your lower core and begin to bend at the knees sitting the pelvis back as if in a chair. Finally, raise your hands forward creating a straight line from your finger tips and crown of the head to the base of your spine engaging the back muscles for balance. If you need to modify, feel free to instead place the hands at heart center instead (as pictured).
