‘Tis the season to give!

Devin had a very cold morning yesterday with the crew at the Pop-up Food Pantry, but said that he enjoyed every minute helping Tuscola County Senior Connections and the rest of the crew that helped distribute food.

What’s one of your favorite ways of giving back to your community?

Some of our members braved the weather yesterday to help out at a pop-up pantry that we helped sponsor for the Caro community! Thanks to all of the other sponsors and volunteers who helped put this on. A calendar of future pop-up pantries can be found at www.fbem.org.

❄️ WINTER WEATHER SAFETY REMINDER ❄️

When the sidewalks freeze over, even something as simple as grabbing the mail can turn into a slip or a fall. This can be especially tough for older adults or anyone who’s a little unsteady on their feet.

A few small habits can help keep everyone safe:

🧊 Watch for black ice on steps and driveways (it’s sneaky and hard to see)
👟 Wear shoes with good traction and take slow, steady steps.
💡 Turn on outdoor lights to help spot slick areas at dusk or dawn.
🧤 Bundle up with layers, and avoid going outside alone when it’s icy.
🚪 Use handrails whenever possible, and keep walkways salted or sanded.
