There’s a lot of misinformation around cycle syncing when it comes to strength training so we wanted to highlight some of the nuance around the conversation.

For example, estrogen may increase pain tolerance, so lifting heavier weights may feel more manageable during times when levels are elevated.

And DOMS and strength loss may also be more likely to happen during menstruation due to the lower levels of progesterone and estrogen.

Still, cycles tend to be variable and everyone’s cycle is unique. While these studies offer a great framework to consider when you might challenge yourself to lift more or less, what’s more important is that you modify your workout based on how you’re feeling every day.

TLDR; there might be some truth to some of these myths, but studies are limited and more research is needed.
