Haunted houses and jump scares are nothing compared to facing the things that truly frighten us, like change, vulnerability, or asking for help. It is easier to avoid what feels uncertain, but avoiding fear often gives it more power. When you face the things that make you uneasy, you begin to take that power back. Growth happens in the quiet moments when you choose to speak up, try something new, or allow yourself to be seen as you are. Every time you face something uncomfortable, you remind yourself that fear does not get to decide your path. Courage is taking one small step forward even when your heart is racing and trusting that you are stronger than you feel.

Halloween is full of masks, but sometimes we wear them long after the candy’s gone. We smile when we’re exhausted, say we’re fine when we’re not, and keep busy so we don’t have to feel. This season is a good reminder that you don’t have to hide behind a mask to be strong. Real strength is found in honesty—with yourself and with others—about what you’re truly feeling. Enjoy these printable masks to bring some Halloween fun to your week!

Every step forward, no matter how small, is still movement in the right direction. Growth takes time, and healing is not a straight path. Some days you may feel like you are standing still, but even showing up for yourself is progress.

Remember that mental health is a journey, not a destination. Each choice to care for your mind, your body, and your heart is a powerful act of self-compassion. Let go of the idea of perfection and focus instead on the quiet victories that happen each day. Progress is built one moment at a time, and every effort counts.

You are doing better than you think. Keep going—you are growing in ways you may not even see yet.

Supporting someone with ADHD begins with empathy and understanding. ADHD is not about laziness or lack of effort. It is about how the brain manages focus, energy, and attention. Small adjustments in how we respond can make a meaningful difference.

Be patient when tasks feel overwhelming. Help create structure and clear expectations. Celebrate progress rather than perfection. Encourage short breaks to reduce restlessness. Most importantly, remember that their challenges are not intentional.

When we approach ADHD with compassion, we help others feel capable, supported, and understood. Compassion starts with a conversation.

Have you ever noticed how your stomach tightens before a stressful moment or how your heart races when you feel anxious? That is the mind and body connection in action, the powerful link between how we think and how we feel.

Our thoughts and emotions do not just stay in our heads. When we feel stressed, the body releases hormones that prepare us to fight, flee, or even freeze. If this happens too often, it can lead to headaches, fatigue, or other aches and pains.

The good news is that when we calm our minds, our bodies follow. Deep breathing, stretching, or talking about feelings can help bring balance back.

This worksheet is designed for you and your child to use together. It helps children notice where they feel emotions in their bodies, such as anger in their chest, sadness in their throat, or excitement in their stomach. As they recognize these signals, they learn to understand and manage emotions in healthy ways.

Use this tool to start gentle conversations and help your child tune in to what their body is saying. When children learn to care for both their minds and their bodies, they grow calmer, more confident, and more aware of themselves.

No emotion is a “bad” emotion! Normalize feeling ALL the feels while learning healthy ways to express them.

How we feel and the emotions we experience are a central part of our mental health. Conversely how we respond to emotions is critical for our health, mental and physical. While they can perplexing, stubborn, frustrating, annoying, frightening and downright depressing at times, emotions are a fundamental and necessary part of brain functioning. In fact, they are central to being human.

Unfortunately societal beliefs often tells us we shouldn’t have emotions or some emotions are bad. Telling your brain it shouldn’t have emotions is like telling your heart not to beat or your lungs not to breathe, and it doesn’t make your brain very happy.

Emotions don’t always feel nice and can make us want to run away from them. And like any avoidance, short term this seems to work, we feel relieved. But inside your brain is feeling pretty annoyed at trying to hold it all in.

How you respond to your emotions is important. Research shows suppressing, berating and shaming emotions doesn’t help us deal with them at all and just creates more stress and make emotions feel even more difficult.

Naming, validating, expressing and recognising emotions seems to help us process them and help us become friends with them, rather than them having power over us. It seems to soothe those emotions and instead of adding a layer of more stress and difficult feelings, helps us deal with the ones we have.
