Hydration helps more than just thirst. It can also make a difference in how your asthma and allergies feel this summer.

Staying well-hydrated keeps your airways moist, thins mucus, and helps your body manage inflammation, all of which can make breathing a little easier.

Heading outside? Bring water. Take breaks. And don’t forget your meds.

Call us at 606-432-0174 if you need to adjust your asthma or allergy plan for the season!

Some asthma and allergy medications can increase your risk of overheating or drying out in summer. Combine that with hot temps, and your body can struggle. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and talk to your provider to find out if any of your medications make you sun or heat sensitive.

Fireworks, cookouts, and… allergens?

While you're enjoying July 4th fun, don’t forget about common holiday triggers like smoke, pollen, pet dander, and even some foods. Keep your meds handy and know your triggers, so the only thing taking your breath away is the fireworks!

When It’s Hot Out, Breathing Can Get Even Harder

Did you know heat, humidity, and ozone levels can worsen asthma and increase your risk of heat illness?

If you feel dizzy, short of breath, or extremely tired in the heat, it might be heat exhaustion and if you have asthma, it can also bring on a flare.

If your skin is dry and hot or you feel confused, it could be heat stroke, which is an emergency, so please call 911 right away.

Stay cool, use your inhaler as directed, and don’t wait to get help if you feel off.
