When you hear the term bariatric medicine, you might automatically think about gastric bypass surgery or lap-band surgery. However, Bartley Weight Loss, we help our patients not through surgery, but through the basic fundamentals of bariatric medicine: modified diet, exercise, and behavioral therapy. Although surgery might be a necessary option for someone who is morbidly obese, it is not necessarily the right course of action for you if you are overweight. By guiding you through your weight loss using the sound fundamentals of bariatric medicine, we can help you lose weight rapidly and keep it off – all without surgery. In bariatric medicine, patients are empowered through education, understanding that prevention is the best cure. This type of treatment model allows patients to be proactively involved with their weight loss provider in the decision making process. Ultimately, the goal is to create change toward a healthy lifestyle by allowing patients to take ownership in their health care.
