Appalachian Herb Growers Consortium is dedicated to applying our experience to fostering new growth for local farms and the community at large. We hope to help build a more sustainable, economically and environmentally-sound foundation for the future by supporting effective cultivation and marketing of high-value plants. That’s good news for Floyd County, where eighty-six percent of farmers are un

able to make a living wage through farming alone. We currently have 50+ area farms participating in the AHGC, with all of them planted in an array of Chinese Medicinal Herbs. Farmers have the support of a source for reliable seed and plants, on-site consultations, help with harvests and post-harvest handling, and virtually guaranteed sales through an established national herb-buying consortium. With this, our participating farmers can focus on what they do best: farming.
