What a GREAT time we had at the Meet the Doulas of South Arkansas meeting and the DA-AR Fall Membership Regional Meeting at Shop Inoj! We got to network, receive updates from the Doula Alliance of Arkansas about the next steps as we bring Medicaid reimbursable services to our communities across the state! We had representation from Monroe, Bradley, and Jefferson County and yummy grub from D’cora’s Custom Cakes!

It was an honor to host this event.

Afterwards we got a chance to be glammed up at the Second Saturday Pop-Up at Inoj featuring Kim Roxie the CEO of Lamik Beauty.

What a fantastic day of events among all the festivities across town for .

We had a blast! It was great connecting with everyone!

A small update regarding our soft and slow return. We have been on a hiatus since approximately September 2024. During this time we have been growing, birthing, and now nurturing our new baby boy.

As we acclimate to our new normal you will begin to see us back out in the doula and birthworking streets! We are excited about our return, but will be giving ourselves grace while doing so!

Ase. 🙏🏾🤎

EDIT 7:34pm 04/03/2024:
‼️Important update: the bill won’t run tomorrow. We think it will run on Monday at 10am now. Please spread the word to anyone you contacted! For anyone who doesn’t get the message in time, we will have a couple staff members outside of the public health room tomorrow morning and will try to connect them with reporters so they can still share their story. Sorry for the last minute update!

🚨 URGENT CALL TO ACTION: Arkansas Moms Needed Tomorrow in Little Rock! 🚨

Moms, we need your help! If you have recently given birth and are on pregnancy Medicaid, but your coverage is set to end at 8 weeks postpartum, please contact me ASAP. We need your voices in Little Rock tomorrow! We will provide the transportation and the cost of food and deinos while we are there.

The Arkansas Senate is discussing the Postpartum Medicaid Extension bill at 9 AM tomorrow at the Capitol, and we need to show up and share real stories of moms who are U.S. citizens and have lost their Medicaid benefits too soon. The Governor’s office is trying to block approval by claiming that only illegal immigrants are losing coverage—which we know is NOT true.

We need women who:
âś… Have lost or will soon lose postpartum Medicaid at 8 weeks
âś… Are U.S. citizens
âś… Can either testify in person or allow us to share their story

We’ll need to leave early in the morning to be there by 9 AM, but this is a critical fight to extend postpartum Medicaid to one year and save moms’ lives. If you or someone you know can join us or is willing to share their experience, please DM me ASAP!

Let’s stand together for Arkansas moms and babies! ❤️

Today was a pioneering day in the of ! The official launch & announcement of (Doula Alliance of Arkansas ) was an impactful moment to witness.

It was nice to see all the interested doulas (new faces and old) that may want to become members of the organization and really play a pivotal role in changing the trajectory of childbirth & motherhood in our state.

I’ve learned a lot, listened a lot, and have worked a lot alongside the other founding members and board members and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished thus far. There’s much more to come! Check out updates online at www.doulaallianceofar.org. Social media pages will be starting soon so check back for that as well!

It’s about that time! Will be here soon and has a wonderful line up of sessions to attend throughout the week! Let’s learn various ways we can encourage our greater community to to Black Mothers & truly support their breastfeeding journey!

I will be leading a session surrounding the breastfeeding journey and familial support and how they are connected. Did you know that a large amount of Black women quit breastfeeding (and some don’t even start their journey) due to comments said by partners, family members, and friends that are discouraging? Most times, these comments are not made to cause harm, but intent rarely accommodates outcomes. It’s time we become intentional with how we communicate & this session will explore just that!

If you can’t attend in person, please hop on our zoom call and join the conversation!
