✨This is the day my grandson, Carter turned 11. He was born exactly 6 months to the day that we lost D’Andre. God sent me this kid to help me cope with my son’s untimely and tragic death. God knew exactly what I would need to get me through a very dark period in my life. And to my surprise, his parents parents named him after my son…. He is Carter D’Andre ❤️❤️❤️. And he has so many characteristics of his Uncle Dre. I love this kid with everything within me. ✨

AFSP was founded in 1987 by survivors of su***de loss and researchers as a research organization dedicated to understanding su***de and identifying evidence-informed strategies to help save lives. Now, because of research, we know that:

🧠 There are elements related to brain function that make decision-making more difficult for someone in crisis.
💙 Therapies and treatments exist that have been proven to help people who feel so desperate in their distress that they do not see a way to live.

✨Today, Bessie Smith-Lancelin and I had the privilege of speaking to the 8th grade students at Watson Chapel Junior High. We talked about the intersection of bullying & su***de. October is anti-bullying month and Sept was su***de prevention month. We combined the two topics.
