This week, UAMS South Central Regional Campus proudly participated in the Read Across America Program!

A special thank you to our Education Coordinator, Danielle Harris, for donating “A Trip to the Doctor’s Office” coloring books to the Pine Bluff / Jefferson County Library System for their opening event. We also extend our appreciation to Dr. Ahmed Amin, Dr. Decontee Kaye, and Dr. John Makary for carving time out of their busy schedules to read with the students at Oakwood Preschool Watson Chapel.

Moments like these remind us how powerful literacy, community partnerships, and early exposure to healthcare can be. We had a wonderful time connecting with our youngest learners and inspiring future readers and future healthcare heroes!

UAMS South Central Regional Campus had a great time hosting this month’s Club Scrub workshop, From Plate to Purpose!

On last night, Education Coordinator Danielle Harris opened the session with engaging icebreakers to get scholars thinking about the importance of healthy eating.

A special thank you to Tanya Hawkins, MSN, BSN, RN, Care Manager at UAMS South Central Regional Campus, for leading a fun and informative conversation about nutrition, healthy food choices, and how what we eat impacts our energy and long-term health.

The sugar and fat intake demonstrations were a highlight of the evening. Scholars and even parents were surprised to see just how much each vial represented!

We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again at next month’s Club Scrub workshop as our scholars continue exploring healthcare careers.
