Initiative is indeed a work in progress at this writing (November 17, 2015). We were incorporated with the State of Arkansas on September 29, 2015 and immediately began the process of putting systems in place to begin servicing inmates, parolees and their children based on the vision of the founder and the mission and purpose for which this non-profit was created. Currently Arkansas has a recidivism rate that hovers around 57% and this problem has placed a tremendous burden on children, family, tax payers and the general society. From the White House to the State House political leaders from both sides of the aisles are asking faith-based groups and non-profit organizations to do more to help assist offenders make a smooth transition back to society. After a devastating war on drugs we are still confronted with crime driven by untreated issues with addiction and mental instability. It is not solely on government but society as a whole to address this staggering problem. How do we as a society take “a criminal” punish them for their crime(s) and build them into productive citizens who don’t re-offend? ARAPI intends to develop a model using the concepts of (The P.R.O.G.R.A.M.) P)risoners and ExPrisoners R)eaching O)ut G)aining R)espect A)dmiration and M)orality to do just that.

Look I’m being made aware of the horrendous medical disparities with inmates in the Arkansas Dept of Corrections.

In order for my organization to address issues with specific inmates I need documentation so at every step of their grievance process I need those copies sent to me. Also you need to understand that if your family member is diagnosed as terminally ill they can be released from prison on Act 270.

Your family member shouldn’t have to die in prison alone, contact Arkansas ReEntry & Prevention Initiative for help.

Last week while speaking to the Arkansas House of Reps on a Bill to remove the language of slavery etc from Arkansas law...I witnessed one of the most underlying forms of religious/racial hate from REPRESENTATIVE BRANDT SMITH (who has been in trouble before) for his racist comments. I'm not going into detail but brother Kurt Muhammad I'm proud of you for maintaining a professional & spiritual demeanor after what he said.. Folks we have to remove this man from office... He's not for us

Just wanted to inform everybody that we have re-organized & are planning major moves in the very near future...yet in order for us to do this we need everybody on here to understand there is POWER in Numbers... And it's in numbers we will BE HEARD... So please assist us in this first step by getting others to like & share our page... Thanking you in advance

I'm going live on my personal page at 7:15am to discuss issues relevant to vacated life sentences in Arkansas.

02/20/2019

I (Jihad Mahdi Muhammad) will be going live at 7:15am to talk about legal issues surrounding vacated life sentences in Arkansas as it relates to Waddle v. Sergeant.

02/08/2019

The ADC has no authority to hold those with vacated sentences:

I just read Waddle v. Sargent (1993) which clearly states, that the judgement of conviction and commitment order authorizes the Dept. of Correction to hold an inmate. Thus those who have had their life sentences vacated are being held unconstitutionally in prison because they do not have a sentence at all.

In scrabbling to satisfy the mandates of the United States Supreme Court, Assistant State Atty General Christian Harris dropped the ball or made a back door deal that really circumvents what's constitutional.

Those who are trying to end this nightmare should file a motion to vacate their illegal commitment order and asked to be placed in the custody of the County that initially charged them. If the circuit court denies the motion they can appeal to the Arkansas Supreme Court that already settled this issue in the aforementioned case.

We were preparing to advocate for one of the brothers in prison who is going before the parole board this week. I went online and discovered he has some 30 disciplinaries the last one being less than a year old. Unfortunately, we will not be able to advocate for him because he has continuously been in trouble in the institution. When we advocate we want to know that the person is reformed and stands a good chance of succeeding if released from confinement. We cannot tell the Post Prison Transfer Board that he/she is ready for parole if they can't follow institutional rules and regulations.

Remember to find what one has lost you must return to that very spot to retrieve it. So if you found spirituality, inner peace, or just a physically and emotionally better way of living while incarcerated... Yet left it at the gate upon exiting!!! Well I think you see where I'm going with this.
