The Practice of Herbalism: An Herbal Practicum
starting from where you are: safe at home, and online
We invite you to join us for 2021. Beginning in February 2021, The Practice of Herbalism will ground you in the art and skill of working with others, including yourself.
The Practice of Herbalism is founded on learning by doing. We’ll begin with casework and move forward in a safe and focused manner. We encourage you to integrate art and science, experience and feedback, people and plants.
Our goal is to guide and support you as you develop a grounded, personal approach to thinking like the unique herbalist that you are. You’ll focus on cultivating knowledge and skill, while aligning your practice of herbalism with your passions and strengths.
The Practice of Herbalism rests on a structured, case-driven approach to learning-while-doing. You will expand your own materia medica, create your own reference library, delve into case work and complete a yearly project, focused on practice and its context. Our goal is for you to develop the skills needed to create a sustainable herbal practice, in your work and in the world, addressing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of health and wellness.
If you enjoy learning independently and thrive in group discussion; if following up on ideas and the occasional rabbit hole isn’t off-putting; if integrating ideas is an appealing learning style, then do, please, contact us for an application.
The Practice of Herbalism includes 68 online contact hours each year, each enriched by directed independent study. Each month we’ll meet online for eight hours, biweekly on Tuesdays (7-9 PM) and one Sunday (4-8PM), eastern time. You can expect that for every hour we spend online, you’ll invest 2-4 hours of self-study. Our 2021 schedule will be offered in three modules; February –April, May – July and September –December. Look forward to our first gathering February 9th.
The fee for each year of study is $1224. Upon acceptance, you’ll submit a non-refundable $250 deposit, with a balance due by February 1st. Payment plans are available.
