Reid Heart Center, the FirstHealth Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Moore Regional Hospital features the next generation of cardiac and vascular care.

The Center is comprised of cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons and cardiologists working together to treat heart patients with the latest in technology, clinical methods and clinical trials. Our goal is to provide the best in patient care with the best possible outcomes. Features of the Reid Heart Center include:
-Five-story landmark building
-Six operating rooms with the newest technology

available
-Two multi-use operating rooms for two or more procedures combined in one visit
-Twenty-three private patient rooms
-Cardiac catheterization
-Bedside registration
-Designated parking and separate, multi-story lobby

Through the generosity and foresight of Pinehurst, N.C. couple Walter and Betty Reid, the dream of a Heart Center is now a reality with opening of the Reid Heart Center, the FirstHealth Cardiac and Vascular Institute in 2011.

Medical emergencies are always scary, and that’s especially true when someone is alone and away from home. Anxiety and fear can set in quickly, and questions are endless – what is happening with my body? Can I safely drive myself to get medical care? Is there a hospital nearby? All these questions and many more were running through Doug Peterson’s mind in October 2024 after he started experiencing chest pains following a day of work in Lee County. Doug was far from home...but he would soon meet several "real-life heroes" who would become the advocates he needed.

MILESTONE ALERT! Yesterday, we celebrated a remarkable achievement—our 500th transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure at FirstHealth’s Reid Heart Center. We are extremely grateful to our dedicated team of health care professionals whose expertise, compassion and commitment to top-notch heart care have made reaching this milestone possible. It’s not just about the numbers, it’s about the lives they’ve touched and the hearts they’ve healed. Here’s to the next 500 and beyond.
