"No Price for support:
You can’t put a price on the kind of support Vincent House gives to its members. A support network that makes you feel like a million bucks. Whether it's helping a member find a new job or place of living. This support is never ending & without time limits. " - Mike Ballenger Member since 2006

Here's something worth knowing: loneliness and social isolation aren't just uncomfortable—they're as harmful to your health as smoking 15 ci******es a day, according to the U.S. Surgeon General. And here's the hopeful part: the opposite is also true. Connection heals.

Recent research on the Clubhouse model shows remarkable outcomes when people with mental illness have somewhere to belong. A 2025 study published in Cureus found that clubhouse participation led to an 8-fold reduction in psychiatric hospital readmissions in the 90 days after starting. That's not a small improvement—that's transformation.

Why does community make such a dramatic difference? Because recovery isn't just about managing symptoms. It's about having people who see you as more than your diagnosis. It's about meaningful work that makes you feel needed. It's about daily routines that give structure when your mind feels chaotic. It's about relationships that remind you that you're not facing this alone.

The research backs up what our members tell us every day: Vincent House and our consistent, judgment-free community changes everything. Join us this week at the Pasco Chili Cook-off to support our work, while enjoying some of the best chili in Tampa Bay!

It's time for a new member spotlight! Meet Corey, attending Vincent House Pinellas for 3 years. We asked him to share a bit about his experience as a member:

"A bit over two years ago I was living through the worst days of my life. Before, 'hopeless' was just a word. I knew the definition, but I didn't know the meaning. Within a few days of coming to Vincent House, I felt useful again. Within a few weeks, I felt valued. And within a few months, I felt a sense of purpose. After 3 years, I've gone from helping Vincent House a couple hours a week, working two TE positions to working as a registered nurse again at Windmoor where I was once a patient. The staff and members of Vincent House have been with me the whole way. Vincent House wasn't just a contributing factor to my success. It was essential."

Corey's story is a testament to what becomes possible when you have a community that believes in you—especially when you can't believe in yourself yet. From patient to professional. From hopeless to essential. This is what recovery through work looks like.
