In Loving Memory of Shirley Ann Sanborn
July 5, 1936 – March 26, 2026

Shirley, a kind, generous, smart, funny, thoughtful, resilient, and strong woman who positively impacted countless lives, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Clearwater, FL, at the age of 89. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

With an infectious laugh and a gift for bringing joy to any room, Shirley made people feel welcome and seen. She had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories—through a quick wit, a warm smile, and the steady strength she carried through life’s ups and downs.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She poured her heart into her family and shared her motherly love with many special people along the way. Her care showed up in the little things—checking in, showing up, listening closely, and giving more of herself than anyone ever expected.

Shirley took great pride in her work as a waitress. More than a job, it was a place where she could do what she loved most—be social, be around people, and brighten someone’s day. She remembered faces, stories, and favorite orders, and she treated everyone with the same respect and genuine kindness.

She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Reginald Sanborn, her children: Michelle Casey (Jackie Marchand), Michael Olshefski (Linda Stiehl), step-children: Chris Sanborn (Michelle Wysman), Jill Sanborn (Kim Sale), her grandchildren: Mick Casey and Christopher Sanborn Jr., sisters Sue Files, Lila Baker, and Peggy Kopolow, and an array of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and many other loved ones and friends who became family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Banker, her sister, Dawn Holbert, and her first husband, Cy Olshefski.

Shirley’s devoted dog, Muffin, brought her countless hours of unwavering companionship, comfort, and joy.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to a pet shelter, Planned Parenthood of Central and Western NY, or a charity of your choice, in honor of the love and generosity she so freely showed.

Though we mourn her passing, we give thanks for a life that was full of laughter, love, and quiet strength. May we honor her by caring for one another the way she always did—openly, sincerely, and with joy.

James William Fletcher, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 15, 2026.
Born on March 26, 1957, in West Palm Beach, he grew into a hardworking and determined man who spent most of his life in construction. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.
Over the years he built a career in home and business remodeling and eventually opened his own remodeling company. Never one to stop pushing himself, he returned to school in his mid-50s to become a licensed electrician.
With piercing blue eyes and an unforgettable smile, he was the life of the party and someone people were naturally drawn to. He formed friendships that lasted a lifetime — loyal friends who became family and stood by him through the years.
He loved the outdoors, music, and any adventure that involved engines and open air — camping, mudding, boating, four-wheeling, dirt bikes, motorcycles, jet skis, and cruising whenever he could.
Above everything, James loved his family fiercely. He always reminded his children to stay close because “family is everything.” One of his most cherished phrases — spoken daily from their childhood through his final days — was, “Did I tell you I loved you today?”
He is survived by his children, in birth order: Matthew Whelan (Michelle), Alysia Fletcher (Jacqueline), Jessica Fletcher, and Brandon Fletcher. He was a proud grandfather to James III, Drew, Jordan, Nissim, Wesley, Ayden, and Kehlani, and a loving great-grandfather to Koa and Cruse. He was preceded in death by his son, James Fletcher II.
James worked hard, but he lived even harder.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 7,2026 from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm at Apple Butter Cafe.

Patricia A. Simonton
September 15, 1951 – February 2, 2026

Patricia A. Simonton, 74, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on February 2, 2026.

Pat was born in Dunkirk, New York, to Glenn and Gladys Lammers. When Pat was 11 years old, her mother passed away, and she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Ellie and Wendel Lilly. There, she shared a room with her cousin Karen and began the next chapter of her life surrounded by extended family.

Patricia was a strong-willed and spirited woman, known for her organizational skills, attention to detail, and determination to get things done. She loved her routines and lived by a quote from coach Vince Lombardi, whom she admired: “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.” These qualities served her well during her many years with Essilor, where she worked as an eyeglass manufacturer until her retirement.

One of Pat’s most endearing qualities was her deep love for others. She found great joy in sending cards — whether to wish someone well, celebrate a special occasion, or simply let them know she was thinking of them. She cherished the people in her life, especially her aunt Ellie and uncle Wendel; her brother-in-law Danny, who helped maintain her home, took her to doctor’s appointments, and cared for her beloved dogs; her thoughtful neighbors who checked in on her; and Mai, her hairstylist. She had a special way of making people feel remembered and appreciated.

Pat also had a lifelong love for dogs. She raised Pomeranians for most of her life, but in her later years, her faithful companions were Kelly, a shepherd mix, and Sandy, a chihuahua, who stayed by her side.

Family Thanksgivings, watching her cousins’ children grow up, attending banquets, mission conferences and youth activities at her uncle Wendel’s church, enjoying 60s and 70s music, and watching Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show were among the simple pleasures that brought her great happiness throughout the years. Pat both gave and received abundant love, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Patricia is survived by her cousins Karen Craven and family, Kevin Lilly and family, and Keith Lilly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 28th, at Taylor Funeral Home, 5300 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, FL 33781.

He later relocated to Florida to care for his mother following the passing of his father. Most recently, he worked as a school bus driver in FL before retiring. His commitment, work ethic, reliability, and punctuality were unmatched. Paul was also a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

His greatest passion was for his dogs. Throughout his life, he was rarely without a canine companion, most recently taking great joy in caring for Akeela and Loki. He took joy in cooking for them daily and bringing them along on his frequent road trips. An avid cook, Paul loved sharing food and recipes with everyone he met. He also found peace and enjoyment in hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his two children: Paul Jason Harkins of Ogdensburg, NY, and Jaime Wilcox (Jesse) of Austin, TX; and two grandchildren: Franklynn Rose Wilcox and Sullivan Grace Wilcox.
