Did you know 13.6% of the U.S. population identifies as Black or African American, yet this demographic represents less than 2% of practicing optometrists? That disparity is why we’re connecting with students, pre-health advisors and administrators at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) nationwide through our HBCU Light Intelligent Tour in partnership with Black EyeCare Perspective.
Having kicked off the tour last year with visits to North Carolina Central University, Tennessee State University and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, we’re now expanding the tour to include virtual events in the Spring and Summer with plans to visit several more HBCUs on-campus in the Fall.
