Open Spaces Yoga Center Yoga and Meditation instruction; workshops, special events and classes.

Located in the beautiful White Mountains of eastern Arizona, this very active center for yoga and meditation instruction, is also a community hub for cultural events that promote healing arts and a greater awareness of the interconnectedness of all life.

This is most likely our last post for Open Spaces Yoga Center.

So, first, THANK YOU for being part of this remarkable enterprise providing health, wellness and cultural enrichment for over remarkable 22+ years.

Our email communications to you through Constant Contact will also be ending, BUT you can stay in touch and hear of ways to remain “in the loop”. We will be contacting you via “Google Mail” with the emails: yogalauren2@gmail.com or krhosie1@gmail.com.

The OSYC page will also be phased out and students can send a “friend request” to Lauren Barnert-Hosie’s personal FB page for another way to stay connected. Here is the link to my personal page:

Lauren will continue to teach small classes in the homes of her ongoing students. If a “new” student is keen on studying with Lauren, private sessions will be obligatory before someone can join her seasoned students. Lauren also remains available to facilitatie private Yoga Therapy sessions for someone with special needs, i.e. pre-op preparation, post-op recovery, issues of stability, balance and mobility, structural imbalances, organic health issues, etc.)

Meanwhile, Ken will continue teaching his “Calm Mind” meditation series at his home in Show Low. He will remain available for both private and group meditation instruction with a focus on life-style choices, deepening personal understanding of one’s essential nature, developing compassionate self-care (on all levels), and coming into greater alignment with our innate desire to live on purpose and with joy. In-person and online Zoom classes will continue to be offered as community interest evolves.

Lauren’s expertise in Iyengar Yoga Instructions & Therapeutics and Ken’s expertise in merging the principals of both Eastern and Western meditation traditions remain unmatched in the region.

We wish only the best for everyone in our community and a special THANK YOU to all our wonderful students! We hope you all keep practicing yoga and meditation and look forward to assisting each of you on your personal path of growth and happiness.

“Worry” is a human trait. The act of worrying is also rarely, if ever, productive. Have you noticed? The same could be said for our habits of longing, fear, anger, hope, etc. The important thing to observe here is that this kind of thinking happens automatically in a loop-after-loop fashion. For the most part, we don’t have “original” thoughts; we have repetitive thoughts!

So, if that’s the case, who is in charge of our thinking? Clearly not us! If we were in charge, would we really keep generating these dark, troubling, anxious, depressing thoughts???

We gently explore that which generates those thoughts we’ve been thinking and living with most of our lives. The practice of meditation is not to change our thoughts, but to come to terms with the nature of the undisciplined mind AND that we can embark on a path of healing and health that generates a more relaxed, even happier(!) experience of the life we are living.
