Even in elementary school, kids are forming attitudes about medicine and drugs. As parents, you play the most important role in shaping how your child thinks about safety and health. Talk early about the difference between medicine that helps and drugs that can harm. Keep prescription medications — especially stimulants like ADHD medicines — safely stored and out of reach.

By building trust and open communication now, you lay the foundation for healthy choices later. Prevention starts with small conversations today.

Before you hit “buy,” pause for just a moment.

Not to shame yourself. Not to be perfect. Just to give your future self a little space to breathe.

These questions helped me slow down when money felt tight and spending felt automatic.

They don’t mean you never get to spend. They just help you spend on purpose, in a way that actually lines up with what you want long term.

Solid Food Introduction 101

When to start: Babies are generally ready for solids around 6 months when they can sit up, control their head and show interest in food.

First foods: Begin with iron‑ and zinc‑rich foods such as fortified cereals, meats, beans, yogurt and fish. Include nutrient‑dense foods from all food groups.

Allergenic foods: Eggs, peanuts, fish, dairy, nuts, wheat and soy may be introduced along with other foods; wait until 12 months to offer cow’s milk as a beverage.

Safety tips: Introduce one food at a time and wait 3–5 days to watch for reactions; avoid honey and unpasteurized foods until at least 12 months; steer clear of choking hazards such as hot dogs, nuts, grapes and popcorn; don’t put cereal in bottles; avoid added sugars and limit sodium.
