Calling All Cargivers 🎨

If you’re a caregiver, this is your reminder that you matter too. Caregiving for a child/adult with special needs can be heavy, isolating, and exhausting—but you don’t have to carry it alone. Join us for a Caregiver Café Paint Party at Sunflower Van Geaux in Alexandria, LA, created especially for parents and caregivers who need a moment to breathe.

Happy Halloween full of all the Boo-gie Vibes 👻

We had a groovy time BOO-gying the night away with all our friends at our Speech Buds Trunk-or-Treat! Thank you to all our friends and family for joining us for the night. Special thanks to those that continue to support us by setting up a trunk and helping to make the night special for our clients. Truly a blessing to watch this event grow each year 💜 We hope everyone has a super funky night full of sweet treats!

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL 📚

Happy 1st full week of school! 🎉 We know it's a busy time - gathering supplies, making sure backpacks are packed, and preparing lunches. But is your child feeling truly ready to take on the school year?

Is your child:
- Confident with communication - able to ask questions/communicate needs, etc.
- Following directions at home and school
- Holding a pencil with ease
- Tying shoes, zipping jackets, opening lunchboxes independently
- Handling transitions without meltdowns
- Managing classroom noise or busy environments

Monday evening, we hosted our first parent session: BEE-yond the Backpack. This session was presented by Emma, an occupational therapist at Speech Buds, and Melissa, the lead speech therapist at Rapides Parish School Board JB Lafargue Special Education & Resource Center. Emma discussed how sensory needs, executive functioning, and motor skills impact learning, while Melissa provided information on IEPs and 504 planning. Our goal was to provide parents with the information they need to help get their children necessary support for the school year. Thank you to Rapides Parish Library, Martin Branch for allowing us to use their facility and for being so helpful in setting up! We are in the process of planning for more parent sessions. Please let us know in the comments what topics you'd like us to cover in future sessions!
