Bright and early this morning more than 20 dogs departed the Humane Society for Animals transportation hub in Rogers headed for Minneapolis to our good friends at The Bond Between. This once a month transport typically provides 20-40 dogs an opportunity to be taken from shelters both in our area along with shelters in south Arkansas. Add in some owner surrenders that we are able to network and BAM! away they go. Our clinic director acts as regional coordinator for this project, making sure all animals are where they are supposed to be and getting our dogs vetted and paperwork ready. Thank you to our local fosters Holly Brookhouser, Nicole Blevins and Toni Fitzpatrick. Thank you Clay Morgan and Ellen Leonard for hosting last night and making sure all were safely loaded this morning.

Just when you think we are serious and all business, along comes a sweet girl to love on pups in foster care while mom was working at the clinic today as they await their trip on Saturday to Chicago. Happy travels to Mojojo, Cowboy, Tiny Tim and Bessie.

Another PSA!
After yet another full day of cats and we have decided that we absolutely cannot have folks show up with their cats for surgery without an appointment. We turned away alot today. We will ask you to schedule an appointment and return another day. The only exception to this is feral cats which are limited to 2 per household per clinic day.

Vaccines! We love helping with routine vaccines but we do not service breeders for either surgery or VACCINES. Our mission is clear: to reduce the number of companion animals in our area. Your mission is to make more and clearly we are on very opposite sides of this conversation. We have some very well respected vets servicing our area; we are confident they will be happy to assist you.

We really appreciate the work of our cat trappers and have welcomed unlimited numbers per household on any day we are open. However, we are finding that if multiple households bring in 3-4 kitties without appointments, this is causing our daily count to go really high. In an effort to smooth out the workload, we are asking trappers who DO NOT have appointments to limit your efforts to 2 per day. If you know you are going to trap and feel confident you’ll catch a feline, by all means set an appointment so we have a space(s) reserved for you. Our pricing for feral cats is $25 which includes rabies, fvrcp and an eartip plus deworming. A bargain anyday!

September is upon us and as we have proved that we are the happening place in Pineville, we are now having more surgery days than ever before. We are grateful for the numbers of volunteers we have and have promised them a lunch each day. So our ask tonight is this: Can you provide a lunch for us? The days we are in need are September 9, 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30.
We aren't particularly picky, a make your own sandwhich bar with some chips, or fruit, chef salads, chicken chili as the days get cooler, soups that have NO beef or pork are also popular. Due to religious preferences we ask that we keep with meatless or chicken based dishes!
We'd even be happy with some pizza or similar takeout if cooking isn't your thing! We do not have a stove but do have a microwave and plenty of crockpots available.
You may dropoff in the morning and we can handle the warming and setting out or if you'd like to get right into the middle of things and be the "lunch" lady, a good time is around 11:30. That's when we switch or from dogs to cats and everyone grabs a quick bite. We have plates, utensils and drinks so you needn't worry about that.
If you can help, please note the date you'd like to be put on the schedule for in the comment section and we will send you a message. The count of people is usually 11-12.

THANK YOU!

Tonight we are advocating for one of our clients dogs to find him a home. You see Ghost Busker came to us out of the house of 48. He was in the very last group of dogs we altered and we could not bear to send him back. He was so torn up from being attacked by other males that we thought he’d die if sent home.
Instead our foster Toni Fitzpatrick stepped up as the first move to socialize him. Under her guidance he came to know what living in a home with nonthreatening dogs was like. He was trained to go in his kennel and he continues to do well in this safe space.

After a month we moved him to Yolanda Riggins home where she successfully taught him to walk in a leash. He’s perfect, no pulling and waits patiently if you stop and talk to someone.

A few weeks ago we upped his game by sending him to Romaine’s house to join another foster. He’a proven to have impeccable dinner manners, uses a doggie door pretty well except for the rain and has become a welcome guest at the clinic.

Ghost is shy of the hand when you try to pet him, a sign that something was probably used for discipline or just being jumped by multiple dogs. We describe him as a 🌹3/4 open while you wait for its true beauty to be revealed.

We can see him as an excellent driving buddy for an over the road trucker, as a great companion for a home without young kids because we think he’d be nervous or a steadfast companion to someone who doesn’t like them too big or too small. He’s perfect at 26 lbs and full grown.

We need your help to place him because until he is adopted we cannot get another dog out of the house of 48( which is now down to 25). Helping Ghost means you’ll help another, a 2 for one win! Please share this post and his story. These are really great dogs once they are given a chance.

🎉 We've met our goal 4 months early!! 🎉

On August 28, 2025, one of our cat patients became the 2,500th animal to be spayed or neutered at our clinic this year. We're so proud of this achievement and of our team that got it done!

This past month was our biggest yet. We fixed 203 dogs and 315 cats, for a total of 518 animals! Thank you to all of our wonderful clients (especially our frequent fliers!) for trusting us with your animals and helping us be a resource to the Ozark community. We plan to serve you for many years to come!

Another successful spay neuter day where we welcomed back Dr Ashley Smith as our attending veterinarian. Ashley has been in the spay neuter world a long time, first as a volunteer over 10 years ago while a prevet student at the University of Arkansas. In 2019 we watched her earn her way into the Mississippi State University’s veterinary program where she successfully completed more than 500 s/n surgeries before graduating in 2023. Since that time she has taken the position of lead veteriarian at Kitties and Kannines in Fort Smith. She always promised she’d be back to assist a few of us old timers and here we are today. Thanks Dr Smith for finding your passion in spay and neuter.

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who brought donations today. We received everything from a single dollar bill to a 100 pounds of dog food. We appreciate everyone and everything. Thank you.

We are open today, Saturday, August 31, 2025. If you would like to drop in to purchase flea and tick treatment please do so between 11 am and 1 pm. Remember your pet must have been seen in the clinic within the last year in order for us to dispense prescription products. If not, please schedule a vaccine appointment using the link below.

Please stop by anytime if you have general questions or wish to drop off donations. Our biggest need currently is paper towels, trash bags (13 or 30 gallon) and bottled water. And of course we always need dry dog food and dry cat food.

Please, don’t delay; spay today! The Bissell foundation allows cat spay and neuter for just $25. It includes a rabies vaccine and an upper respiratory vaccine. The $25 is cheaper than buying food for a litter of kittens and trying to find homes for them. If you truly cannot pay the $25 please let us know. We have plenty of available appointments for September.
