Sheer gratitude goes to the mayor of Hempstead, Katherine Ward, along with her team! With a ribbon cutting ceremony and full use of the Hempstead Recreation Center and lots of outdoor space at nearby parks – the City of Hempstead welcomed Teen and Family Services with open arms this summer! Our 10-week summer camp program is well underway for 100+ teens we serve from foster care.

Since 2002, our foundational model has integrated therapeutic services with pro-social activities, effectively engaging teens and families in mental and behavioral health and substance abuse recovery. Combining skilled clinicians, peer support specialists and ex-pro and collegiate athletes works in ways that traditional models do not.

Gratitude goes to our friends, Ellen and Dan Cartwright, who so generously supported the Teen and Family Services 10th Annual Luncheon. Ellen and Dan were among the 300 guests at this record-breaking event helping us raise more than $530,000 for the teens and families we serve. Matt Russell shared his story and Gary and Elizabeth Petersen were honored by honorary chairs Leila and Walt Mischer.

TAFS gratitude goes to Matthew Russell , longtime friend and founding board member, who most recently spoke at our 10th Annual Luncheon. Matt shared his story and inspired 300 guests at this record-breaking event at which Gary and Elizabeth Petersen were honored by honorary chairs Leila and Walt Mischer.

Matt is an undeniable champion for youth recovery. He’s volunteered his time as a spiritual advisor to many TAFS teen and parent group members and staff.

A remarkable example of service to the community, we are honored and grateful that Matt has been an active part of the Teen and Family Services family since 2002.

We are excited to host our Foster Care Summer Camp at their wonderful facility and are very excited for this new partnership!
