Astronomy & astrology: two separated siblings 🔭♈

Both began with people looking up at the night sky, trying to understand the stars. Even their names come from the same Greek root — astron (ἄστρον), meaning “star.” For centuries, they grew side by side, and up until the Scientific Revolution, astronomy and astrology were often seen as part of the same picture of the universe.

Today, though, their goals are very different.

🔭 Astronomy is a science: it studies celestial objects and events through observation, testing, and the laws of physics.
♈ Astrology is a belief system: it interprets the positions of celestial bodies as meaningful for personality, relationships, and life events.

So yes — same sky, shared roots, similar words. But one tries to explain how the universe works, while the other looks for personal meaning in it.
