Today is World Water Day, a global initiative led by the United Nations to raise awareness about the importance of safe and reliable access to clean water.
Access to clean water is often discussed in terms of physical health, but it is also deeply connected to mental health and well-being.
Water access is one of many social determinants of health. The environmental and social conditions that influence how people live, work, and care for themselves. When basic needs like water, housing, and food security are uncertain, individuals and families often experience increased stress, anxiety, and barriers to accessing healthcare.
Supporting mental health means recognizing that well-being does not exist in isolation from our environments and resources.
At Hope & Meaning Counseling, we recognize how social determinants of health can impact emotional well-being and support individuals navigating complex life circumstances with compassion and practical tools.
Access to clean water is a basic human need and meeting basic needs is foundational to mental health.
