We had a great time at the Middlesex County Blue Cares Community Resource Fair in Perth Amboy last week! πŸ’œ

It was inspiring to see so many organizations and community members come together to support recovery, share resources, and connect people to care. From providing Narcan to health and housing services, the event was a reminder of how much impact we can make when we all show up for one another. πŸ’œ

We were so glad to be part of it and to share more about what TRS offers to the recovery community across New Jersey.

This past weekend, the TRS team spent the morning at the Mayor’s Annual Health Fair in Woodbridge! πŸŽƒπŸ‚ It was such a great time connecting with the community, talking about recovery, and spreading the word about the support we offer through TRS.

Between the pumpkin painting, local vendors, and wellness activities, it was a perfect reminder that recovery and health go hand in hand β€” and that community plays a big part in both. πŸ’œ

We’re always thankful for opportunities like this to share resources and meet others who care about making recovery support accessible for everyone in New Jersey.

This past weekend, we spent the afternoon at the 2nd Annual Peer Recovery Picnic at Mercer County Park! The sun was shining, the community showed up, and the energy was filled with love, laughter, and connection. 🌀️

From sharing stories to enjoying good food together, it was a beautiful reminder of the power of community in recovery. We’re so grateful to have been part of itβ€”both to share about TRS and to connect personally with folks in the community!

This month, our TRS team came together for a refresher training β€” a chance to pause, reconnect, and get back to the roots of why we do this work. 🌱

It was a day of grounding, team building, and brushing up on skills so we can keep showing up as our best selves for the people we serve. These moments remind us that recovery support is built not only on knowledge, but on compassion, connection, and trust.

Every training helps us grow stronger as a team β€” and that means better support for every individual who picks up the phone to hear from us. πŸ’œ

🌟 On September 12, TRS was proud to attend the 9th Annual Peer Recovery Support Summit, Advancing Recovery: Peer-Led, People-Centered.

This year’s theme highlighted the power of peer leadership and person-centered care β€” values that are at the heart of what we do at TRS.

A special moment for our team: our very own peer, Chris Malalis, who took the stage with her presentation, β€œTheirs Is Theirs, Mine Is Mine: Trusting the Process in Peer Work.” πŸ’œ
Chris spoke on the importance of boundaries, self-awareness, and trust in the peer role β€” reminding us that effective peer support means walking alongside someone, not directing their journey. Her message captured the heart of recovery: respect, empathy, and mutual growth. We are so beyond proud of Chris for representing TRS and shining a light on the power of lived experience in recovery!

& We’re so grateful to for creating a space where peers, providers, and community members can come together to learn, collaborate, and strengthen recovery support across New Jersey.

β˜€οΈ Summer may be winding down, but it’s been a season full of connection, collaboration, and community. Here’s where TRS was spotted this summer:

πŸ“ June 12–13 β€” NJPN Annual Conference (Atlantic City)
Celebrating 25 years of prevention, treatment, and recovery innovation with 1,200+ professionals statewide.

πŸ“ June 24 β€” Atlantic County Recovery Court
We shared TRS services and connected with participants and providers working to support long-term recovery.

πŸ“ August 16 β€” Woodbridge Overdose Awareness Day
A moving day of remembrance and action with a flag raising and walk, breaking stigma and honoring lives lost.

πŸ“ August 26 β€” Monmouth County Recovery Court
We provided resources, answered questions, and connected with participants about recovery pathways and TRS support.

As we head into fall πŸ‚, we remain committed to showing up, sharing resources, and supporting recovery across New Jersey. πŸ’œ

Governor Phil Murphy has officially proclaimed August 31, 2025, as Overdose Awareness Day in New Jersey.

Drug overdoses remain the leading cause of accidental death in our state, with more than seven lives lost each dayβ€”most involving fentanyl and other dangerous substances. Behind these numbers are families, friends, and communities forever changed.

While August 31st has passed, the need for awareness, compassion, and action continues every single day. Together, we can honor those lost, support their loved ones, and work to prevent future tragedies.

πŸ’œ This past weekend, we honored International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31) β€” a reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, a story.

Overdose Awareness is not just about remembering loss, but also about lifting up resilience, reducing stigma, and making sure support is always within reach.

At TRS, we stand in that space every day: honoring grief, celebrating recovery, and reminding each person that they matter. Awareness doesn’t end in August β€” it continues in the way we show up for one another.
