Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic

Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic We specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for kids and teens with anxiety and depression.

The Youth Anxiety and Depression Clinic (YAD-C) is a specialty clinic at Rutgers University. We offer cognitive and behavioral therapies for children and adolescents between the ages of 9 and 17 who are experiencing any of the following concerns:

- Sad, down, blue, or irritable mood
- Withdrawal from friends, school/work, and social activities; disinterested in things they used to like
- Pervasive, persistent worries about multiple topics (i.e., school/work performance, family, health, future)
- Difficulty separating from home, parents, or loved ones
- Excessive fear or embarrassment in social situations
- Problems at home, school/work, or with peers as a result of mood or anxiety

Our team of therapists consists of advanced doctoral students who are trained and supervised by Dr. Brian Chu, professor and chair of clinical psychology at Rutgers University, and other experts in the field. As a research clinic, we use evidence-based treatment methods supported by the latest research in child and adolescent psychology. We are currently recruiting youth and their families for a randomized controlled clinical trial to evaluate three types of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and other mood problems. Eligible participants can receive low-cost therapy sessions on a sliding scale. Contact us to learn more, or schedule a phone screen at the link below: https://yadc-interview.youcanbook.me/

Our team had the privilege of presenting to a group of 50 dedicated school staff members on Selective Mutism, where we worked on equipping educators with valuable skills and strategies for supporting students. Our goal was to help school staff implement effective communication techniques and expand their understanding of Selective Mutism which can be often misunderstood.
