After spending time in Skyterra's fitness spaces, you might be asking yourself, "Where are all of the fitness machines that I see in a typical gym?" πŸ€”

We promise, our set up is intentional. πŸ˜‰

At Skyterra, we prioritize something called "functional training." πŸ’ͺ

Machines can be very useful for rehabilitation and developing familiarity with different movements. Don't get us wrong, no, they are not inherently bad! However, relying on them too extensively actually works against the ability to develop stability and strength around joints.

Machines tend to work in single planes of motion. To be functional in our daily lives, we must perform exercise in safe but UNSTABLE environments so that we're forced to activate MORE to carry out the movement.

That is why we use mainly barbells, dumbbells, balls, bands... even ropes (pictured above) during our training at Skyterra. Consider it more bang for your buck! πŸ’₯
